Summary

The Professional Development Consultant for K-5 Reading Language Arts will support districts in the effective use of HQIM materials for Reading Language Arts K-5 ELAR/SLAR directly and in coordination with TEA. The role entails strong collaboration with other ESC's content specialists and TEA. The consultant will need to draw upon previous experience in a school or district to implement curriculums, ensuring fidelity of implementation through PLC supports, walkthroughs, modeling, coaching and assessments, specifically in the content area for the specific role (Reading Language Arts K-5 ELAR/SLAR) in Bilingual/ESL/DL instructional settings.

In addition to supporting HQIM implementation, this position will also provide regional campus and district educators with technical assistance and professional development opportunities in, the Science of Teaching Reading, Bilingual/ESL/Dual Language, TCMPC, ELAR/SLAR K-5, state initiatives, special programs, and area of assignment. The consultant will be expected to design and deliver customized professional developments based on needs, requests and data.
Qualifications

This position requires: a Master's Degree; valid TX State Teacher Certification; a minimum of five (5) years' experience teaching K-5 Reading Language Arts, grades 3-5 preferred; with focus on Emergent Bilingual student and second language acquisition in a Dual Language instructional setting; Bilingual/ESL certified, preferred; successful completion of Reading Academy coursework preferred; deep content & pedagogical knowledge & skills; and experience in public presentations and communicating complex information and development of effective working relationships with diverse individuals and groups including district administrators, teachers, education experts, and all other relevant stakeholders. Success leveraging different strategies and interpersonal skills to move the work forward, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability when presented with a change of course and deadline. A desire to self-reflect, give/receive feedback and continuously improve. Other requirements: Applicant must have prior experience using data analysis software and communication tools including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, previous budget & program management experience; a valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance.
