Full Job Description
Role :

The Production Supervisor - Industrialization oversees a sub team within the Industrialization department. Their team may be composed of Manufacturing Engineers, Industrial Engineers, and Technologists, with a focus on new product integration (NPI), design for manufacturing, and methodization. They are responsible for building and coaching the team to ensure that the industrialization of our products is done according to standards, technical specifications and quality requirements.

Tasks :

Leads a team made up of Manufacturing Engineers, Industrial Engineers, and Technologists. This team may have a product-specific focus on electronics, antennas, or satellites.

Resource Management:

    • Distributes resources to specific tasks and projects accounting for skill set required, task type, experience and program team environment. Interfaces with program and line managers to align resource demands.

  • Coordinates and approves employee vacation requests.
  • Maintains appropriate staffing levels by regular analysis of program and department demands. Conduct appropriate hiring or layoff action to adjust staffing levels accordingly.
  • Establishes and regularly updates succession plans for key skills to avoid single point failures and bottlenecks in resource allocation.


Performance / Employee Management:

    • Monitors and manages overall employee performance including technical quality, cost and schedule effectiveness and attendance.
    • Conducts performance appraisals of all direct reports. Set individual objectives aligned with departmental goals and overall divisional strategic objectives.
    • Coaches, trains and actively participates in the development of the skills of the staff under supervision. Establishes regular training and mentoring plans for the group.
    • Ensure that personnel work in an environment that fosters innovation and growth in order to maximize their satisfaction within the constraints of the company, by supporting career planning, providing regular feedback, and celebrating successes.
    • Ensures the proper and judicious application of the company's collective agreements in conjunction with Human Resources and the Production Manager.
    • Defines and implements a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) when necessary and if required follows proper disciplinary procedures under the guidance of Human Resources.


Technical Support:

    • Helps coordinate and ensure distribution of lessons learned following resolution of significant issues.
    • Supports internal and external audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented as required.
    • Actively promotes a Design for Excellence culture.


Process Development, Maintenance and Application:

    • Actively works to improve work methods and processes related to industrialization.
    • Ensures proper application and adherence to overall company policies and processes by members of the team.
    • Develops and maintains team specific processes and work instructions.
    • Develops and maintains standards ensuring that they are readily accessible. Through the use of metrics, ensures application of these standards by the staff in order to improve efficiency and maintain quality.
  • May act as back-up to the Production Manager in case of absence or delegation.


Qualifications Required :

  • College diploma in engineering technology or equivalent. University degree in Operations/Production Management, engineering, administration or related discipline is an asset.

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Management / supervision experience is an asset.
  • The candidate must have demonstrated strong skills in interpersonal relationships, conflict resolution, and leadership.
  • Knowledge of electronic and mechanical technologies involved in space hardware production.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and production techniques.
  • Excellent understanding of planning tools, ERP logic, and Microsoft software
  • Experience in a unionized environment.
  • Good communicator in French and English (both written and spoken).(Transact with suppliers outside Quebec).


Special Considerations:

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the SECRET status level II, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
