Job Title
Production Planning Specialist II

Responsible for coordinating the work of various departments involved in the production of high quality products.
• Plan and schedule production orders based on established priorities and the availability of required materials and capacity. Follow up to determine actual performance versus estimates.
• Compute amount of material required to complete job orders.
• Draw up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping date according to sales forecasts and customer orders. Coordinate with the manufacturing floor to actively manage the production schedule.
• Assemble work order packets complete with work order router, completion dates, and instructions for subsequent operations.
• Follow and audit production orders through the production process to ensure the proper schedule is followed.
• Monitor manufacturing system transactions for accuracy and work with leaders to correct discrepancies and eliminate the fundamental causes of the problems.
• Supervise assembly of statistical data on demand patterns, usage, etc.
• Coordinate material delivery with inventory to support manufacturing schedule. May examine material delivered to production to verify conformance to specifications.
• Compile records such as material inventory, in process production reports, status, and location of materials.
• Perform system transactions to report movement of material between manufacturing operations and into finished goods and monitor daily progress of manufacturing orders.
• Monitor quality, service, delivery issues, and issue corrective actions as needed.
• Seek to apply new technologies to meet company objectives. Stay current on industry trends and developments in technology.
• Recommend new tools and systems to enhance efficiency and quality in the planning area.
• Facilitate special transportation of product to meet customer needs.
• Expedite overtime planning and communication of schedules to internal departments.
• Perform system transactions to ship product and track status of actual shipment against goals.
• Review, generate, approve, or submit for approval supply services, supplies, quotations, terms, etc.
• Analyze information and requests received from engineering via ECF (Engineering Change Form) and effectively communicate the requirements to manufacturing personnel.
• Contact Team Leads and Department Supervisors relative to availability of materials, delays, changing orders, and handling problems, in order to meet the production plan.
• Expedite operations that delay schedules and alter schedule to meet unforeseen conditions.
• Maintain inventory records and requisitions as necessary to ensure delivery schedules are met.
• May track and report key manufacturing metrics, such as cycle time against goal; assist in cycle time reduction and efficiency improvement efforts.
• Provide training/cross-training to ensure employees are in compliance with departmental and safety standards, and are up-to-date with required training.
• Ensure that planning personnel are trained on all required work procedures and work instructions.
• Provide clarification to employees on issues pertaining to department processes, interpretation of product specifications, technical drawings, and purchase orders.
• Prepare lists of required materials, tools, and equipment.
• Enter purchase orders to obtain materials, tools, and equipment.
• Assist and/or perform in any and all areas as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field.


Experience:
  • Minimum 3 year of experience or; 8 years related experience with no degree or; Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • APICS certification in production and inventory management preferred.


Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Maintain high level of understanding of technical product and process knowledge.
• Possess an advanced understanding of MRP (material requirements planning) tools and techniques.
• Perform tasks requiring advanced proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office, Outlook, and MFGPro.
• Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds.

Target Hiring Range
Annual Salary: USD 70,008.00 - USD 92,411.00

Actual compensation is commensurate with experience, skills and education.
