The Production Accountant will be based at Sinopec Canada's head office in Calgary, Alberta.
Primary Purpose of Position
Reporting to the Manager, Production Accounting, the Production Accountant is responsible for completing all production accounting requirements for assigned operated and non-operated properties. You have extensive knowledge of current industry and government practices and possess the technical skills required to gather, process, and report information.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare all regulatory reports and meet reporting deadlines.
- Liaise with field staff, Measurement, and the Engineering Department regarding issues that may affect production.
- Determine crude oil and natural gas splits as required.
- Record monthly revenues and royalty obligations and code third-party fees for the JV Department.
- Ensure freehold and gross overriding royalties are calculated correctly.
- Resolve AER reporting compliance issues while working with the Measurement Department on the EPAP, CAR, and PAD government reports.
- Maintain familiarity with property schematics to ensure the proper setup of properties in the production accounting system.
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations and clear outstanding balances.
- Respond to queries from the Finance Department, external auditors, and senior management.
- Support company objectives, values, standards of ethics and integrity.
Position Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Proficient knowledge of gas allocations and oil splits.
- Working-level experience with PAS, Petrinex, ProdView, Qbyte FM, LandView, and Microsoft Office-predominantly Excel and Word.
- Ability to work within a team environment.
- Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Deadline-oriented, with the ability to prioritize assignments and manage
Qualifications
- CAPPA certification is an asset.
- A post-secondary education in business with an emphasis on accounting is desirable.
- 6-10 years of industry accounting experience is desirable.
- Working toward a CPA designation would be an asset.
