ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) for pack and BMS programs, representing Quality at program gate and design reviews (e.g., PDR/CDR) and driving quality deliverables to program milestones.
- Serve as a significant contributor to Design FMEAs (DFMEA) led by Design Engineering and Process FMEAs (PFMEA) led by Manufacturing Engineering - bringing quality, test, and field data to the analysis, challenging severity/occurrence/detection ratings, and verifying linkage from DFMEA to PFMEA to Control Plan so special/critical characteristics are identified and flowed down.
- Contribute to the development and review of prototype, pre-launch, and production Control Plans, process flows, work instructions, and inspection/test instructions, ensuring alignment with design intent and the PFMEA.
- Partner with Design & Release Engineering on drawing and specification reviews - tolerances, GD&T, acceptance criteria, and test limits (e.g., Hi-Pot, isolation, end-of-line functional) - and support Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM) and Design-for-Assembly (DFA) reviews.
- Support engineering change management: review ECRs/ECNs for quality impact, validation needs, and required FMEA/Control Plan updates, and ensure released documents are under revision control.
- Support design verification and production validation (DV/PV) planning; review test results against product, customer, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Lead product problem solving for internal, customer, and field issues using 8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa, and Six Sigma (DMAIC) methods - driving containment, root cause, verified corrective action, and lessons learned back into FMEAs and design guidelines.
- Establish measurement and capability evidence for key characteristics, including MSA/Gage R&R, SPC, and process capability (Cpk/Ppk) studies; define inspection and test strategies.
- Prepare and assemble PPAP and customer submission packages (first article inspection where required), partnering with Supplier Quality on purchased components.
- Track product quality metrics (e.g., first-pass yield, scrap, nonconformances, customer returns) and drive continuous improvement.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:- 3+ years of experience in product quality engineering, quality engineering, or design/release engineering in a manufacturing environment.
- Technical background in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Hands-on experience contributing to DFMEAs and PFMEAs and to the development of Control Plans and work instructions.
- Working knowledge of APQP and the AIAG core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC).
- Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills (8D, 5-Why, Six Sigma/DMAIC, or similar methodologies).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and product specifications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing & Operations, Supply Chain & Procurement, and Quality.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:- Design & Release Engineering experience (drawing and BOM release, engineering change/ECN process, PLM systems).
- Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) or equivalent process improvement experience.
- Experience with EVs, battery pack manufacturing, or stationary energy storage systems.
- Experience with Battery Management Systems (BMS), power electronics, or electronics component quality.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and/or AS9100 quality management systems.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar certification.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:5 - 10% travel, depending on program milestones (e.g., customer design reviews, build events, validation testing, and launch support); may flex based on program needs and timelines.
