Full Job Description
The Product Manager II discovers and validates market problems, identifies new business opportunities, and measures and manages product performance. This position also develops strategic vision and product roadmaps with executive stakeholders, and works with product owners and development teams to deliver exceptional results. The Product Manger II focuses on the development of product vision based on extensive research of the market and competitive landscape.
This position offers a hybrid work option. Nelnet values flexibility and understands the importance of work-life integration. Our hybrid work environment allows associates within 30 miles of an office to work remotely for part of the week, while also fostering collaboration and team connection through in-office presence.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develops industry relationships to identify market opportunities, define market problems, and advance FACTS as a thought leader.
2. Works with Marketing and Sales to provide specific guidance on competitive advantages and market growth strategies.
3. Completes profiles on each competitor, identifies competitive and alternative product enhancement offerings and develops a strategy for winning against the competition with planned execution in 1-3 years.
4. Works with Product Owners to confirm that the product backlog supports long-term vision.
5. Utilizes roadmap tool to maintain product roadmaps and ensures they are tied to strategic vision and yearly goals.
6. Conducts client win/loss analyses and shares results with the organization.
7. Develops, manages and measures product launch processes and communication for effectiveness, speed, and client satisfaction.
8. Monitors and analyzes key performance indicators to determine how successful the product is performing in the market, how it impacts FACTS operations and NPS scores, and ultimately, how it contributes to revenue goals.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- 3-5 years of product management experience or product knowledge.
Preferred:
- K-12 or education-market domain knowledge.
- Experience in a platform/hub-and-spoke product environment, where one core product feeds many downstream products.
- Technical fluency — comfortable working with APIs, MCPs, and modern data architecture concepts, even without a hands-on engineering background.

Compensation for this role is $100,000-$120,000 annually, depending on experience.
