Job Description

Job Purpose:
  • Maintain and improve existing manufacturing systems and products.
  • Coordinate Global Customer Drawing Reviews (GCDRs) and review customer drawings as needed regarding change requests.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a key design review participant as a voice for design for manufacturing Manage the priority and urgency associated with multiple project deliverables. Including planning, communicating, and meeting commitments.
  • Provide technical support to organizational stakeholders (Test, Sourcing, Production, Quality, Marketing and Sales).
  • Interpret product specifications and change requests on existing products and recommend design and/or manufacturing requirements.
  • Participate and contribute to team training, development, mentoring and audits.
  • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with company policies. Support root cause analysis utilizing problem-solving tools and methodologies as needed.
  • Execute Engineering Change Orders (ECO's) on existing products while coordinating to ensure the changes do not affect compliance, quality or cost.
  • Act as the engineering point of contact for production floor issues and support the implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
  • Identify and support cost savings opportunities as they arise.


Qualifications

Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • BS degree with 3+ years' work experience. Higher education can substitute for some of that experience.
  • Able to work and set priorities independently with minimal assistance.
  • Proficient use of SolidWorks 3D or other similar CAD is required.
  • Understanding of GD&T, ANSI/ASME standards and the preparation of required documentation
  • Knowledge of engineering grade machined and molded polymers and metals
  • Knowledge of metal properties: conductivity, corrosion, machining methods, Plating options
  • Familiar with contact technologies and contact physics theory is desirable.
  • Familiar with manufacturing process to achieve high resolution products (CNC machining, molding, deep drawing, screw machining, additive, stamping, over-molding, etc.).
  • Familiar with cable terminations, strain relief and over-molding techniques a plus.
  • Knowledge or work experience with highly regulated industries.
  • Familiar with Kaizen, Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies.

Travel %: 0-10%

Planning and Decision Making:
  • Coordinates with cross functional project team to ensure milestones are achieved and risks are mitigated.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment, systems, tools and process to increase organizational efficiency.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems and/or assists others in solving work problems.
  • Sets priorities and drives completion of needed deliverables with minimal assistance.
  • Utilizes experience, analytical capacity, problem solving tools, and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Impact and Scope:
  • Collaborates across multiple functions, sites, and regions
  • Contributes to establishment of functional KPI's and goal attainment
  • Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives.

Identified training mandatory for the role to be completed competently.
  • Product and application training, as provided by Product Specialists and utilizing product presentations on SharePoint, to become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on General Industrial and PCB products
  • Introduction to key stakeholders and their functional roles and responsibilities including Sales, Marketing, Procurement, Quality, and Manufacturing
  • Mandatory training identified by corporate policy, including export compliance, fair trade, anti-bribery/corruption laws, and business ethics.

Key Internal & External Stakeholders & Relationships
  • Be able to lead or contribute to cross-functional teams in product development cycle.
  • Interface with customers & supply chain to improve current manufacturing processes and products, and conducts customer visits as necessary.
  • Be able to train Internal and External stakeholders on our products and capabilities.

  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in verbal and written form using the English language
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit and talk or hear.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Some travel may be required for training and/or other business purposes including customer and/or supplier visits (travel < 10%)
