Full Job Description
Niyam is seeking an experienced Product Architect to support one of our federal clients. We are seeking a Product Architect to serve as the technical lead for an Agile team responsible for architecting, designing, and implementing scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions across multiple platforms. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in software architecture, cloud infrastructure, and full-stack development, with the ability to bridge business needs and technical delivery. This role requires hands-on technical leadership, strong communication skills, and a commitment to fostering collaboration and innovation across the development lifecycle. This is a hybrid position, and will require onsite to the client location in Ashburn, VA 1-2 days/week. Roles and Responsibilities - Define, maintain, and evolve the product architecture to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, reliable, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards. - Design and implement innovative technical solutions that address business requirements while promoting best practices in development, testing, and deployment. - Collaborate with business analysts, product owners, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions that balance business value, technical feasibility, and architectural standards. - Provide technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle, guiding solution design, implementation, integration, testing, deployment, and ongoing support. - Lead technical discussions and actively participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, demonstrations, retrospectives, and release planning. - Serve as the technical lead during product demonstrations, communicating solution capabilities and technical decisions to product owners and key stakeholders. - Partner with DevSecOps teams to design, implement, and deploy cloud-native applications while ensuring adherence to security, compliance, and operational best practices. - Lead the decomposition of epics and features into well-defined technical tasks, enabling efficient sprint planning and successful project execution. - Foster a collaborative engineering culture by mentoring developers and testers, encouraging knowledge sharing, and creating an environment where team members can openly discuss ideas, challenges, and solutions. - Provide technical guidance through architecture reviews, design reviews, code reviews, and mentoring to promote high-quality, maintainable software. - Design and implement solutions using multi-tenant cloud architectures, modern application design patterns, and microservices-based architectures. - Evaluate technical risks, architectural trade-offs, compliance requirements, and implementation challenges, recommending mitigation strategies and improvements. - Review cybersecurity assessments, static code analysis results, and application vulnerabilities to define remediation plans and improve overall software quality. - Develop and maintain architecture documentation, technical designs, system diagrams, and implementation standards to support development and long-term maintainability. - Create technical roadmaps and phased implementation strategies, including cloud migration initiatives and legacy system modernization or decommissioning. - Oversee application development activities by reviewing pull requests, ensuring coding standards, validating test coverage, resolving technical blockers, and promoting engineering best practices. - Lead the design, development, integration, and modernization of enterprise applications and distributed systems. - Drive the migration of legacy applications to cloud-based, microservices-oriented architectures using modern development frameworks and platforms. - Proactively identify potential technical challenges and implement effective mitigation strategies to minimize project risk and ensure successful delivery. - Collaborate closely with developers, QA engineers, UI/UX designers, product managers, business analysts, production support teams, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions through an iterative Agile approach. - Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and architectural best practices, recommending improvements that enhance product quality, performance, and delivery efficiency. Qualifications and Education Requirements - US Citizenship with ability to successfully complete a federal background investigation. - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field (equivalent practical experience may be considered). - 10+ years of software development experience, including hands-on experience with programming, software design patterns, and architecture as a software architect, tech lead, or a senior developer. - Must be able to work a hybrid schedule 1-2 days/week in Ashburn, VA. - Expertise in Typescript, Postgres SQL, Postgres Streams, Gemini AI, webRTC, and Geospatial software, must have both design and hands-on experience with these technologies. - Expertise in design patterns, object-oriented programming (OOP), and other software design methodologies to create modular, scalable, and maintainable systems. - Professional experience operating within cross-functional teams and groups. - Knowledge of different software development processes, such as Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or DevOps, and their implications on architectural decisions. - Expertise in various architectural styles, such as client-server, microservices, event-driven, or layered architectures, and their trade-offs. - Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) and understanding of distributed system concepts, including scalability, fault tolerance, and data consistency. - Experience in RESTful APIs and experience designing, implementing, and integrating APIs in a secure and efficient manner. - Experience with relational (e.g., Postgres) databases, data modeling, and data storage best practices. - Skills in analyzing and optimizing software performance, including profiling, benchmarking, and code optimization techniques. - Experience in baseline management and best practices for merges and version control. - Understanding of common software security vulnerabilities and strategies to mitigate them, such as input validation, secure coding practices, and encryption. - Hands-on development with Amazon AWS, Java (Spring/spring boot), React, PostgreSQL, JavaScript, browser technologies such as HTML, HTTP and CSS and JavaScript framework such as Kendo UI. - Experience with DevOps practices, including continuous integration and continuous development and deployment tools such as Harness, Jenkins and GitLab. - Strong experience with containerization technologies (Docker) and orchestration Tools (Kubernetes). Preferred Skills - Experience serving as a Technical Lead or Lead Software Engineer for one or more Agile product teams. - Experience contributing to enterprise architecture, technical standards, and governance, with the ability to drive adoption and ensure compliance across development teams. - Professional cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, or equivalent are preferred. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts and translate technical solutions into business-focused outcomes for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Demonstrated commitment to staying current with emerging technologies, industry trends, cloud platforms, and software architecture best practices. - Strong technical analysis, system design, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills. - Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience evaluating complex technical challenges and developing practical, innovative solutions. - Ability to influence technical direction, build consensus, and lead technical decision-making across cross-functional teams. - Experience mentoring developers and fostering technical growth through coaching, design reviews, and knowledge sharing. - Strong understanding of modern software architecture principles, including cloud-native design, microservices, distributed systems, and scalable application development.
