Responsibilities

Procurement Specialist

Location: Knoxville TN

Contract: Permanent, full time

Reporting to: Senior Director of Supply Chain

Your role in the mission:

Type One Energy is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Procurement Specialist to support sourcing and purchasing activities for programs supporting our stellarator development programs. This role will manage purchase orders, supplier communications, contract administration, and procurement execution for specialized materials, equipment, and services required for the manufacture and testing of a variety of technical components and programs.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, thrives in a technical environment, and has experience procuring engineered components, precision hardware, specialty materials, or scientific equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute procurement activities supporting stellarator/Infinity program development and manufacturing.
  • Create and manage purchase orders, requisitions, supplier quotations, and procurement documentation.
  • Source and procure technical components, instrumentation, test equipment, and other technical products and services.
  • Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations for cost, lead time, technical capability, and quality requirements.
  • Expedite critical orders and proactively manage supplier delivery commitments.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records within ERP and purchasing systems.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Finance teams to support program requirements.
  • Track supplier performance and assist with issue resolution.
  • Support supplier onboarding and qualification activities.
  • Assist with contract administration, NDAs, and purchasing agreements.
  • Generate procurement reports on supplier performance, spend, and delivery metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and contractual requirements.

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of procurement, purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain experience.
  • Experience managing purchase orders and supplier communications.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
  • Familiarity with ERP or procurement systems.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced technical environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience procuring materials or equipment for aerospace, energy, semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, defense, or research organizations.
  • Understanding of engineered-to-order or low-volume/high-complexity hardware environments.
  • Knowledge of supplier quality requirements and contract terms.
  • APICS, CPSM, CPM, or similar certification
