Full Job Description
As Process Safety Engineer, you are responsible for upholding Noble's operational integrity and regulatory compliance. Serving as a guardian of our license to operate, you will participate in the development and continuous improvement of the Safety Case regime, hazard identification practices, and barrier management in alignment with CMAPP and the Barrier Management Strategy.

Your expertise ensures Noble meets and anticipates legal and industry requirements. You will lead and facilitate risk assessments, maintain robust process safety documentation, and provide authoritative guidance on safety-critical activities across the asset lifecycle. This role requires deep technical knowledge, a strong grasp of global regulations, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.

Your contribution is essential to Noble's reputation, operational continuity, and legal compliance in high-hazard offshore environments.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.


Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years in process safety or technical safety roles within offshore drilling or high-hazard industries.


Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in hazard identification, risk assessment methodologies, Safety Case development, risk modelling and studies, and barrier management.


Regulatory Knowledge:
  • Familiarity with international safety regimes and extensive experience with Safety Case regimes and SECE management.


Soft Skills:
  • Strong analytical, communication, and facilitation skills; able to work collaboratively across functions and cultures.


Mobility:
  • Willingness to travel globally, including offshore, with appropriate medical and safety certifications.


Preferred Certifications:
  • NEBOSH Process Safety, CSP, IChemE Process Safety Practitioner, or equivalent
  • Familiarity with CMMS, Operational Risk Assessment tools, and digital safety systems (e.g., ERP, PTW etc.)


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Process Safety & Risk Management
  • Provide strategic leadership in the facilitation of HAZID, HAZOP, Bowtie, and QRA workshops, ensuring the proactive identification and assessment of Major Accident Hazards (MAHs) across the entire fleet.
  • Champion the digital transformation of safety case templates and performance monitoring dashboards, setting the standard for best practices company wide.
  • Drive the integration of safety case data into operational systems, delivering real-time risk visibility and supporting executive decision-making.
  • Participate in the development and stewardship of Safety Cases and critical documentation, guaranteeing alignment with the highest regulatory standards and organizational objectives.
  • Direct and oversee the identification and strategic classification of Safety and Environmentally Critical Elements (SECEs), ensuring robust linkage to Performance Standards and governance processes.
  • Contribute to the company's long-term safety strategy and vision by setting and driving the strategic direction for process safety across the organization
  • Partner with senior Technical Safety and Barrier Management leadership to guarantee consistency, integration, and continual improvement of risk controls throughout all functions.
  • Demonstrate advanced competency in risk modelling and provide expert guidance on the development of risk studies to inform and protect critical business operations.
  • Support operations management teams with rig intakes, risk assessments, client and regulatory inspections acting as a subject matter expert.


Barrier Management & Assurance
  • Set the strategic direction for the development and maintenance of barrier diagrams (bowties) and the Barrier Integrity Dashboard, ensuring alignment with corporate risk frameworks.
  • Be part of the implementation of assurance programs for safety-critical activities and elements, including verification of performance standards and compliance with rigorous assurance schedules.
  • Act as a principal stakeholder in the Management of Change (MOC) process, ensuring all impacts on MAHs are assessed and that Safety Cases, SECEs, and performance standards are systematically updated.
  • Provide oversight and expert support in the development of verification schemes and the execution of independent assurance activities, including high-level audits and inspections.


Regulatory Compliance & Governance
  • Serve as the company's senior authority on process safety compliance, maintaining proactive engagement with international and regional regulatory bodies (e.g., UK HSE, NOPSEMA, HAVTIL, SODM).
  • Participate in the preparation and submission of Safety Cases, material changes, thorough reviews and regulatory documentation, ensuring timely updates and strategic alignment with evolving legislation.
  • Represent the company in high-level discussions with regulators, clients, and third-party verifiers to demonstrate regulatory compliance and a commitment to continuous improvement in process safety performance.


Training, Competency & Culture
  • Provide strategic oversight into the identification and mapping of safety-critical activities (SCAs), ensuring full integration with Noble's Competency Assurance System.
  • Lead the design and rollout of training and awareness programs, elevating organizational capability in process safety and major accident prevention.
  • Promote and embed a world-class safety culture, championing workforce engagement in safety studies, encouraging open reporting, and driving continuous organizational learning and excellence.
