Process Instrumentation & Controls / Automation Engineer

SSOE Group is looking for a mid-level Instrumentation & Controls / Automation Engineer in the Midland (Michigan) or Toledo (Ohio) area who would like to be part of the growing SSOE Team. At SSOE our Automation Engineers fulfill project leadership roles designing and delivering highly visible automation projects for our very diverse list of Clients and Markets. This position will require close coordination with our Project Mangers, Discipline Captains, our Clients, and SSOE’s Multi-Discipline Project Teams to meet quality requirements, Client expectations, and project schedules.

A Typical Day Might Include:

The following duties are typical of the position but are not all encompassing. Responsibilities include those required to deliver quality service on schedule and within budget in a team environment.

• Lead efforts for the development of Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls design and construction packages.
• Assist SSOE’s Process Team in support of P&ID development and associated Cost Estimates
• Develop and maintain instrument index.
• Specify Process Instrumentation to meet process requirements.
• Develop loop diagrams and other instrument wiring drawings.
• Develop MCC One Lines and Electrical Control Schematics
• Develop and apply instrument installation details.
• Design Control Panels including associated field wiring and raceways.
• Help Develop / Define Automation and Programming Requirements for PLC Based Systems.
• Develop PLC / HMI Programs to meet Project Requirements
• Interface with client and SSOE team to coordinate design activities.
• Checking and technical assurance of drawings and specifications.

Qualifications You’ll Need on Day One:

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering which qualifies for licensure is required. Electrical Engineering preferred.
• PE, or PE-tracked preferred.
• 5+ years of related practical experience with former employer(s).
• Experience in chemical and / or manufacturing design required including knowledge of applicable National Electrical Code.
• MicroStation / AutoCAD experience.
• Self-starter with a positive attitude
• Proficient in Microsoft Applications.
• Strong Communication Skills.
• PLC / HMI Programming proficiency required. DCS Programming a plus.
• Ability to work and communicate effectively in both an independent and a team-oriented environment.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Salary Range: $85,000-$100,000/year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
