Chemours is seeking a
Process Engineer to join our growing Louisville Works team. This position will be available at the
Louisville, KY and report directly to the Manufacturing Technology Manager.
This role will have process and production engineering responsibilities for supporting Process Safety Management, Environmental performance, new capital installation, day to day performance and continuous improvement. The Process Engineer is a member of a Manufacturing Technology team that includes chemical, mechanical and electrical engineers. Louisville Works includes areas that are designated as high hazard processes, uses some highly toxic materials (HTMs) and therefore requires Process Safety Management (PSM) excellence.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:- Provide engineering expertise on unit operations such as distillation, refrigeration, pressure vessels, scrubbers and liquid and gas transfer.
- Provide technical oversight for day-to-day operations, including process monitoring, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
- Lead and/or participate in Process Safety Management (PSM) related activities such as Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) reviews, Pre-Start Up Safety Reviews (PSSR), Mechanical Integrity, Process Technology, and other technical and safety reviews.
- Initiate Management of Change (MOC) activities to the process to improve the safety, quality, environment, and/or cost of the production unit.
- Perform tests on the process to improve the safety, quality, environment, and/or cost of the production unit.
- Review, revise, and create procedures and other technical documentation.
- Assist capital project front-end loading to ensure equipment specified meets process requirements at the highest uptime and lowest life cycle cost. Provide process support to all project phases.
- Work on continuous improvement activities to improve area performance.
- Mentor less experience engineers and co-ops
The following is required for this role:- Minimum of a BS in Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience.
- 2+ years in a High Hazard Chemical Manufacturing Process.
- Demonstrated knowledge of typical equipment used in a Chemical Plant (i.e. pumps, compressors, piping, valves, etc.).
- Demonstrated capability to understand the underlying chemical interactions within a Chemical Plant.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, prioritize and execute improvements that support the Business goals in Safety, Throughput & Cost.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Willing and able to wear required PPE (personal protective equipment) such as steel toes, hard hat, Nomex, eye protection, respirators, etc.
- Demonstrated understanding of OSHA 1910 (Process Safety Management).
The following is preferred for this role:- MS in Chemical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience
- Experience leading/participating in Process Hazards Analyses.
- Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher) Certification.
- Experience with distillation processes.

Pay Range (in local currency):
$97,843.00 - $152,880.00

11%
