Full Job Description
The Process Engineer serves as the Jesup Mill system owner for Rate Surge Management (RSM), PARCview, and WinGEMS process models while also performing assigned process engineering work. Applies operating data, modeling, and engineering analysis to improve safety, quality, reliability, productivity, cost, and environmental performance.
How you'll shape the future of the Jesup Process Engineering Team
RSM, PARCview, and WinGEMS Ownership: Approximately 50%
• RSM system ownership. Maintain and improve the PARCview graphical front end, support backend configuration, calculations, and dashboard functionality. Troubleshoot data and display issues and coordinate technical support..
• Lost ADMT tracking. Own RSM lost ADMT trigger logic, event tracking, reason classifications, and calculation accuracy. Maintain consistent definitions and application across operating areas. Review trigger performance and reason-code use to ensure production losses are captured and consistently classified. Reconcile RSM downtime and associated lost ADMT with operating personnel each week. Resolve missing or inaccurate records and confirm complete event explanations and appropriate downtime reasons. Work with area owners to resolve discrepancies before weekly reporting.
• Data integrity and reporting. Review rate incidents for accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Verify scheduled refreshes of incident, weekly downtime, and OEE reports and provide performance information for operating and leadership reviews. Maintain timely Power BI report refreshes and investigate incomplete data or reporting discrepancies.
• Rate surge strategy. Review target rates, conversion/yield factors, and surge triggers. Evaluate compliance with the mill's rate/surge strategy and recommend changes to settings, operating practices, or training. Review deviations with operating areas to determine whether coaching or revisions to rates and triggers are needed.
• WinGEMS process models. Maintain models to reflect current equipment, operating conditions, and process changes. Use models to support process engineering evaluations, troubleshooting, and improvement projects. Check model results against available operating data, document assumptions and revisions, and communicate model limitations to engineering users.
Process Engineering: Approximately 50%
• Operating support and improvement. Monitor mill operations, analyze process performance, troubleshoot operating issues, and identify improvements in process capability, quality, efficiency, productivity, cost, and environmental performance. Establish performance baselines, investigate causes of variation, and recommend actions with measurable operating benefits.
• Project leadership and justification. Lead assigned process engineering projects from evaluation through implementation of mill scale trials. Define scope, evaluate alternatives, estimate costs/benefits, and assist in capital funding requests as needed.
• Safety and customer focus. Support safety and housekeeping improvements and incorporate safety into project design and execution. Maintain customer focus and coordinate customer communications when needed. Consider product specifications and customer requirements when evaluating process changes and reviewing project results.
• Results and business analysis. Evaluate project results against design goals and document lessons learned for future trials. Compare actual operating and financial benefits with project expectations and identify corrective actions where results fall short.
