Process Engineer
As we deliver our ambitious2030 Growth Strategy, Croda is seeking an Engineer responsible for providing technical expertise and support for the development, design implementation and maintenance of mechanical and production systems with a view toward improving production efficiency and plant reliability, reducing manufacturing costs and improving safety standards. This role will have a focus on site process controls and automation. Perform all duties within the Company's safety, health & environmental regulations.
KEY DUTIES:
• Support and develop the site process control and automation systems.
• To be responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of predominately short term (0- 12 months) plans to ensure the achievement of objectives related to a given engineering discipline.
• To solve problems, sometimes in the face of limited or vague information, that may affect multiple disciplines and departments.
• Guidance will be sought in most cases before implementing a solution.
• The Engineer may be involved in, respond to, and assist in accident and incident investigations.
• To regularly communicate technical information and influence internally at all site levels and with external engineering contractors, suppliers and regulators of core discipline engineering matters.
• Provide plant and process troubleshooting skills to manufacturing assets ensuring downtime is kept to a minimum.
• Lead/participate in hazard studies and participate in process hazard reviews including carrying out risk assessments with assigned plant areas.
• The role requires engineering acumen to identify areas for improvement and to generate original thinking in design and development.
• The job holder is expected to approach tasks with creativity, flair and continual improvement.
• To work under the direction of their line manager as needed.
• Decisions are made in relation to specific situations and may be inherently complex in nature with the results regularly reviewed.
• Assistance and advice are available.
• The post-holder is expected to work as part of a larger departmental team.
Education & Training: Educated to degree level. Minimum of 3 years in an industrial setting: chemical processing industry preferred.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
• Must have oral & written proficiency in the English language.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
• Proficient in MS Office.
OTHER SKILLS:
• Competent in core engineering disciplines.
• Good team player.
• Ability to prioritize workload with competing priorities.
Ability to walk, sit or stand for a minimum of 8 hours. May be required to move throughout production areas on uneven surfaces, climb ladders and/or stairs and be exposed to outside weather conditions for extended periods. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
