Full Job Description

Dodge & Cox is seeking an experienced Private Wealth professional with a background servicing UHNW clients on discretionary investment accounts to join our Client Service team as a Client Service Associate (CSA). In this role, you would partner with our Client Portfolio Managers (CPMs) to manage our separate account relationships for high-net-worth investors, family offices, and non-profit organizations. The successful candidate will coordinate all non-investment aspects of these relationships and interface with members of our internal Operations, Legal, Compliance, Trading, and Portfolio Management departments as well as with external custodians to meet our client's investment objectives while providing excellent personal service.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary operational point of contact for clients, custodians, consultants, and third parties

  • Manage all aspects of the client lifecycle, including new account onboarding, account transitions, and account closures

  • Understand the client's financial objectives and how Dodge & Cox fits into their overall investment strategy

  • Coordinate Legal and Compliance review of Investment Management Agreements and investment guidelines

  • Manage and execute client cash flows, asset transfers, and account maintenance

  • Leverage AI and other emerging technologies to streamline account servicing, surface client needs proactively, and improve the accuracy of information delivered across teams

  • Serve as coordination hub for client needs at key life planning inflection points (includes gifting, account splits, estate distributions)

  • Facilitate and address inquiries related to proxies, class actions, corporate actions, and client audits

  • Communicate and work with client's attorneys, CPAs, and outside advisors

  • Interface and develop strong working relationships with all departments, including Portfolio Management and Trading, Client Service, Operations, Technology, Legal, and Compliance

  • Represent the Private Client CSA team on cross-functional projects where the department is a stakeholder

Qualifications

Dodge & Cox targets candidates with high levels of academic and professional achievement and leadership ability.

  • Four-year college degree (B.A. or B.S.) with an excellent academic record

  • Minimum of five years of experience working with high net worth separate account clients

  • Adept at using AI or other emerging technologies to work more efficiently and deliver a stronger client experience

  • Familiarity with estate planning, various trust instruments, and personal financial planning preferred

  • Demonstrate intellectual curiosity about the investment business and knowledge of equity and fixed income products

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; strong proofing and editing skills

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, flexible, reliable, curious, proactive, and service-oriented

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines

  • Collegial and collaborative

  • Proficiency in MS CRM, MS Excel, PowerPoint, MS Office and Adobe Acrobat

  • Comfortable with proactively soliciting input and feedback from colleagues

  • Candidates with CFP, CFA, or CPA are preferred though not required

Who Should Apply

This role is well suited to candidates with hands-on experience servicing ultra-high-net-worth clients on discretionary investment accounts. Strong candidates are able to speak knowledgeably to aspects of an investment portfolio, coordinate effectively with outside advisors on tax and estate matters, and manage the operational complexity inherent to sophisticated investment relationships. This role calls for direct experience servicing investment accounts; a background in private banking or trust administration alone, without that investment exposure, would not fully prepare a candidate for the scope of this position.

The salary range for this position is $130k - $185k.

The listed pay scale denotes only the pay range of the base salary and does not include discretionary bonus compensation, which may make up an important portion of the total remuneration.  Dodge & Cox encourages applicants to consider the value of the many competitive benefits it offers, including coverage of 100% of all healthcare premiums for employees and their families and fully funding a retirement plan at 25% of the total compensation to the IRS limit.
