The Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) Surface Radars & Sensors Center is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to support the Sensors Warfighter Support Team onsite at Schriever AFB in Colorado Springs, CO. You will also be part of the broader Systems Engineering Directorate, which develops and maintains high-fidelity performance simulations, performs system performance analysis (including pre-flight prediction and post-flight matching), supports new business initiatives, and contributes to technology roadmaps. Remote and hybrid work is not an option for this role.

In this role, you will join a small, highly collaborative team operating in a dynamic environment and performing a wide variety of technical and operational support tasks. You will work directly with multiple warfighter communities, providing critical expertise related to Missile Defense System (MDS) sensors. The team's work spans warfighter education, wargames and exercises, radar analysis, capability deployment, operational support, threat modeling, and more. Domestic and international travel is an essential component of supporting warfighters and associated organizations.

What You Will Do
  • Support multiple warfighter organizations across the Missile Defense enterprise.
  • Provide radar education and training for Combatant Commands, especially Sensor Manager Cells.
  • Participate in planning conferences, technical interchange meetings, system testing, and execution of Wargames and Exercises, serving as the radar subject matter expert (SME).
  • Contribute to the broader Missile Defense System (MDS) community and support real-world operational needs.
  • Analyze operational radar data to support mission outcomes.
  • Travel domestically and internationally up to approximately 10% to meet program requirements.


Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience working with radar systems, within the Missile Defense System and/or related fields.

  • Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics (STEM).
  • Strong communication skills with tactical users, engineering teams, senior military leaders, and corporate leadership.
  • Experience supporting missions or business needs through domestic and/or international travel.
  • Experience with the AN/TPY-2 radar.
  • Missile Defense experience, including knowledge of MDA elements and fielding configurations.
  • Prior hands-on experience with radar analysis.
  • Prior military experience.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
