Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Principal Resident Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to work at one of the most exciting transportation facilities in the Country! As a Principal Resident Engineer you will be responsible for overseeing construction activities and coordination. You will ensure that deficiencies are identified and addressed to meet safety standards, environmental regulations, and facility specifications. Collaboration with various stakeholders, including project managers, construction teams, and government agencies, will be part of daily activities.

The Resident Engineer (RE) will part serve as Commercial Manager for a General Engineering Consultant team, assigned to an ongoing construction and maintenance contract at a major transportation hub in New York City, and report directly to the Senior Project Manager. As first point of contact, seated full time at the NYC project office, will negotiate proposals, ensure compliance, review estimates and pencil copies requisitions, is one subset of tasks performed. Supporting the RE role is a host of subject matter experts, designers, engineers, architects, inspectors, cost controls personnel and administrative staff to ensure construction and maintenance actives are orderly.

The successful candidate will leverage extensive technical experience in municipal infrastructure, including transportation facilities, to aid in management of capital improvement projects.

Role Accountabilities:
  • Monitor and oversee daily construction activities and Inspection responsibilities.
  • Conduct technical reviews of construction plans, specifications, and project changes to ensure constructability and practicality.
  • Ensure staff safety, regulatory compliance, permit adherence, and effective coordination with regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure coordination between contractors and 3rd party stakeholders.
  • Review design drawings and contractor repair proposals.
  • Review and update asset database and tracking
  • Organizing the rapid response teams for any time sensitive issues
  • Supporting the main contractor on site as new situations arise.
  • Monitor contractor performance, schedule adherence, and overall effectiveness.
  • Assure contractors to meet project objectives related to cost, schedule, and quality standards.
  • Administer the contractor payment process and recommend appropriate adjustments based on completed work.
  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills to guide project progress, maintain safety standards, adhere to scheduling requirements, and facilitate meetings with contractors, clients, local agencies, and community stakeholders.

Qualifications & Skills & Experience:
  • 4-year Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Similar degree, a Master's degree is preferred
  • Minimum of 12 years experience in Construction Contract Administration of related work experience preferably in northern New Jersey/NYC area
  • Professional Engineer registration in State of New York is required.
  • Familiarity with commonly used manuals and publications

Salary Range: $112,200.00 - $196,400.00
