The roleWe're hiring a
Principal Product Manager to own product strategy for a major part of Schema App's platform and to raise the bar for how we build products as a team.
This is a senior individual-contributor leadership role. You'll set multi-quarter direction for a product line, make the hard trade-offs explicit, and turn strategy into shipped outcomes in partnership with Engineering, Marketing, and Customer Success. You'll also be a multiplier: coaching and mentoring the product managers around you, including a PM-in-training, and helping shape the product frameworks and practices our team uses every day.
We're looking for an experienced, well-rounded product leader with deep B2B SaaS experience, comfortable in a startup through scale-up environment, who is energized by how AI search and agentic experiences are reshaping how brands are found and chosen. If that sounds like you, show us in your application. This role reports to Mark van Berkel, COO and co-founder.
What you'll do- Own product strategy across quarters: Define and drive the multi-quarter strategy and roadmap for a product line, connecting market shifts in AI search, answer engines and agents to clear product bets, and grounding trade-offs in usage data, customer feedback and business impact.
- Lead platform, API and packaging decisions: Shape how our platform, integrations and APIs are designed and exposed to customers and partners, and partner with leadership on pricing and packaging so that what we build is easy to buy, adopt and expand.
- Coach PMs and raise how we build: Raise the craft of the product team through regular coaching, feedback and modelling, including mentoring a PM-in-training, and partner with the Product Community of Practice to evolve our roadmap, prioritization and go-to-market (GTM) frameworks, keeping them lightweight and practical.
- Be a trusted presence with enterprise customers: Lead discovery with enterprise customers and prospects, represent the roadmap in executive and customer conversations, and bring first-hand customer evidence back into strategy and prioritization.
- Drive go-to-market outcomes: Partner with Marketing and Customer Success on positioning, launches, Sales and CSM enablement, and adoption tracking.
- Lead with AI and agent fluency: Use AI copilots and agentic tools to work faster, with clear judgment about what to verify versus trust, and bring a strong point of view on how AI answer engines and agents retrieve and act on structured content.
What you bring (must-haves)- 8+ years as a product manager, with deep hands-on experience in B2B SaaS.
- Ownership of a product line or product strategy across several quarters, with clear evidence of shipped outcomes and measurable impact (adoption, retention, revenue), not just responsibilities.
- A track record of coaching and mentoring product managers, including helping a more junior or early-career PM grow their craft.
- Pricing and packaging, or platform/API product experience: you've shaped how a product is packaged and monetized, or owned a platform, integration or API product used by customers or partners.
- Executive presence with enterprise customers: you're credible and comfortable leading discovery, roadmap and strategy conversations with senior stakeholders at large organizations.
- Strong cross-functional partnership with Engineering and GTM teams (Marketing, Sales and Customer Success), and the ability to bring people along through change.
- Data-informed decision making: you use adoption metrics, customer behaviour and usage trends to set priorities, define success criteria and measure impact.
- Technical competency: you understand technical trade-offs well enough to have meaningful architecture and feasibility discussions with Engineering.
Nice to haves- Depth in AI, semantic web, knowledge graphs or data platforms (a strong plus): for example LLM or AI search products, schema.org and structured data, RDF or linked data, or data-platform and developer products.
- Experience with SEO, martech, content platforms or answer-engine optimization (AEO).
- Experience introducing or scaling product frameworks or a product community of practice across teams.
- Experience running customer-facing webinars, enablement or launch programs.
- A technical background (computer science or engineering degree, former engineer, solutions or analytics role).
- Startup or scale-up experience in an environment that needed more process and execution discipline.
How we work / locationThis is a full-time, remote role. Schema App is headquartered in Guelph, Ontario, with a team across Canada.
Schema App's Core Values- Growth Mindset: You're curious, ambitious, and always looking for ways to improve, whether that's evolving how we build products, learning from customers and data, or experimenting with new AI and agentic tools.
- Resourceful: You turn ambiguity into action. You use data, customer insight, AI tools, and the expertise around you to make informed decisions and keep work moving, without waiting for perfect information or perfect conditions.
- One Team: Great products are built cross-functionally. You build strong partnerships with Engineering, Marketing, Customer Success, and other teams, creating shared ownership of product decisions, launches, and outcomes.
- Humble: You bring strong product judgment without assuming you have all the answers. You listen to customers, users, and teammates, make your thinking transparent, and change course when what you learn points to a better path.
