This position is for a
Principal Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of eight (8) years of professional experience. If you're energized by designing, developing, documenting, and sustaining innovative test environment systems, the Test Equipment Engineering Directorate (TEE) would love to hear from you!
This position is 100% onsite in Tucson, AZ.What You Will Do - Research, plan, design and develop mechanical test systems in areas including, but not limited to, vibration, thermal, hydraulic, radio frequency, and electro-optical for production testing environments.
- Integrate and validate test systems against stringent accuracy and reliability requirements.
- Evaluate production installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate malfunctions.
Qualifications You Must Have - Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience
- Minimum of eight (8) years of technical / engineering experience in mechanical design and/or production support.
- Skilled in using CAD solid modeling and analysis tools, with an emphasis on ProE / CREO Parametric for complex design and engineering workflows.
- Demonstrated experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T) analysis.
- Experience creating mechanical drawing packages.
Qualifications We Prefer - Design experience with mechanical and electronic packaging.
- Experience with Configuration Management processes, application, and tools (e.g., Windchill / cPDM).
- Experience in Model Based Engineering or Model Based Design.
- Experience in mechanical sub-systems packaging, materials, thermal analysis, structural analysis, control systems, electrical hardware design, or large assembly development.
- Experience with environmental stress screening of hardware (e.g., vibration, shock, thermal, etc.).
- Systems engineering experience.
- Knowledge of basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution.
- Experience in proposal development and the first four gates within the Integrated Product Development System (IPDS).
- Experience with providing guidance and assistance to less experienced professionals and/or support employees.

The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
