Principal Manufacturing Engineer - Vision Systems
Location: San Diego, CA
Duration: 12 Months

We're actively seeking an experienced Principal Manufacturing Engineer to support manufacturing process development, equipment integration, production optimization, and new technology initiatives within a Vision Systems environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and optimize manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, and material handling.
  • Develop efficient machine and equipment layouts to maximize productivity, throughput, and facility utilization.
  • Define sequences of operations and manufacturing procedures for tools, equipment, and processes that impact product performance.
  • Adapt machine and equipment designs to meet factory and production requirements.
  • Incorporate inspection and test requirements into manufacturing and production plans.
  • Evaluate the performance of machinery, equipment, and tooling to identify opportunities for improved efficiency, reliability, and product quality.
  • Investigate manufacturing issues and initiate corrective actions to address process deficiencies and quality concerns.
  • Develop manufacturing processes that support Statistical Process Control (SPC) and other process improvement techniques.
  • Provide technical guidance to Engineering on design concepts, specifications, equipment, and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes and procedures comply with applicable quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and/or contribute to projects involving new technologies, manufacturing systems, process improvements, and production initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to drive projects from design through implementation.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to other engineers and technical professionals.
Technical Leadership
This is a senior-level individual contributor role with significant technical responsibility and autonomy. The Principal Manufacturing Engineer will:
  • Serve as a technical expert in manufacturing engineering and assigned projects.
  • Lead complex manufacturing projects and initiatives with limited oversight.
  • Develop solutions to complex and sometimes undefined manufacturing problems through detailed analysis and investigation.
  • Drive improvements to processes, systems, equipment, and products.
  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and other stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization with internal and external customers, vendors, and project stakeholders.
  • Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to other team members.
  • Help advance existing technologies and support the introduction of new manufacturing technologies and systems.
