Principal to provide educational leadership and oversee the day-to-day management of our school program. The Principal is responsible for managing policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure all students are supervised in a safe and supportive learning environment that meets approved curricula, Individual Education Plans (IEPs), regulatory requirements, and the mission of the school.
The Principal provides leadership and administrative guidance to school-based staff while promoting effective communication, teamwork, professional development, and a positive school environment.
Key Responsibilities- Exercise administrative responsibility for the coordination and supervision of assigned programs in accordance with Agency policies and procedures and federal, state, and local laws and codes.
- Ensure all administrative responsibilities required by the New Jersey Department of Education are met.
- Coordinate the transdisciplinary delivery of services to students to ensure Individual Education Plans (IEPs) are met.
- Facilitate the intake, assessment, and admission of new students and maintain a waiting list as appropriate.
- Maintain communication between school, residential, support service programs, families, and other resources.
- Promote effective school-wide communication through teamwork and organizational structure.
- Provide program knowledge, leadership, and administrative guidance in the day-to-day management of the school program.
- Promote a positive work environment and facilitate a safe school environment.
- Apply professional judgment in addressing and resolving difficult issues.
- Analyze staffing needs, participate in interviews, and make recommendations regarding the hiring of program staff.
- Coordinate and supervise the orientation, training, and evaluation of assigned staff.
- Coordinate departmental improvement activities and the implementation of new programs.
- Attend internal and external leadership meetings and meet regularly with the Associate Executive Director.
- Schedule and conduct staff meetings regularly.
- Approve and submit requests for materials, supplies, and new equipment.
- Ensure assigned program spaces, equipment, and supplies are maintained in a sanitary and safe manner and request maintenance or repairs as appropriate.
- Review and approve staff hours and timesheets and monitor staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage.
- Complete required administrative reports.
- Continue professional development through ongoing education, conferences, workshops, in-service training, and committees as assigned.
- Comply with New Jersey Department of Education regulations regarding Professional Development Plans (PDP) for principals and supervisors.
- Cooperate fully with licensing and accrediting activities, including inspections and investigations.
- Comply with all LADACIN Network policies and procedures, including the Agency's Code of Ethics.
Required Qualifications- Master's degree in special education or an appropriate field.
- Valid New Jersey Principal Certification required.
- Minimum of three years of supervisory experience.
- Experience working with individuals with multiple and physical disabilities preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and human relations skills, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with administrators, colleagues, school-based staff, students, parents, and community members.
- Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and professional judgment skills.
- Must pass a criminal record history check and be eligible to receive clearance from the New Jersey Department of Education.
- Must pass or provide proof of a negative Mantoux test.
