Role SummaryThe Principal IATA Fuel Quality Pool (IFQP) Inspector role is the sole subject matter expert in conducting onsite surveillance of fuel storage facilities, into-plane refueling processes and procedures, and refueling vehicles at stations where Alaska Airlines (AS), Hawaiian Airlines (HA), and Horizon Air (QX) aircraft are fueled. As an individual contributor, this role collaborates with peer IFQP Inspectors at AS to promote consistent application of fuel quality standards, share technical expertise, and ensure alignment with program objectives.
Key Duties- Define long-term strategy for the Alaska Air Group fuel quality inspection program in line with IFQP and company standards.
- Develop and maintain long-term strategy for the Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air IFQP inspection schedule.
- As the lead subject matter expert, perform fuel inspections in accordance with applicable fuel quality standards (e.g., IFQP, ATA 103, JIG, CSA B836).
- Share discrepancies (findings) with all IFQP members through the IATA Fuel Quality Pool System (FQPS).
- Review completed IFQP reports to assess applicability to Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air operations - integrating results into the Safety Management System (SMS) and maintaining department records.
- Exercise considerable latitude and initiative to understand and manage processes defined in the IFQP Multilateral Agreement and ATA 103 fuel quality standards.
- May act as the IFQP Airline Master/Deputy Master and point of contact (POC) for Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air.
- Acts as a fuel program subject matter expert in support of internal and external audits (e.g. Department of Defense [DOD], Federal Aviation Administration [FAA], IATA Operational Safety Audit [IOSA]).
- Represent Alaska Airlines in the Airline for America (A4A) organization and attend industry fuel training, as needed.
- Influence across company and several levels up to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with Maintenance and Engineering, fueling vendors, and Supply Chain Management's Fuel Operations department to share findings for improvements and to ensure the safety of Alaska Air Group's fuel quality inspection program.
- Utilizes SMS and remains current in the training requirements for SMS.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & SkillsRequired- 7 years of airline industry fuel auditing, fuel quality assurance, fuel operations, or a related area.
- Bachelor's degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
- Current training and certification as an IATA Fuel Quality Pool Inspector.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
- Detailed oriented and highly organized, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to drive outcomes in the best interest of the company.
- Frequent travel is required, including international travel.
- A valid passport at the time of employment.
- Must maintain a residence in a state where Alaska Airlines operates.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 18.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred- Valid FAA Certification (Airframe and Powerplant [A&P], Powerplant or Repairman).
- Thorough understanding of the ATA 103 standard.
- Coordinating Agency for Supplier Evaluation (C.A.S.E.) Level III or Level IV evaluator.

Salary Range$111,650-$200,950 / year

Geo 1: $111,650 - $139,575 - $167,500
Geo 2: $122,800 - $153,500 - $184,200
Geo 3: $133,950 - $167,450 - $200,950
Must reside within a reasonable distance of an airport served by Alaska Airlines to support business travel requirements.
Salary DetailsPay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon employees.
