Full Job Description

ThePrincipalEngineer 6 Utility Projects will be responsible 6for 6managing third parties in 6the design and engineering 6of large, 6utility-scale solar 6photovoltaic (PV) 6and 6battery 6energy 6storage 6(BESS) 6projects in late-stage development, construction, 6and operation 6within the 6[Market] 6market. Responsibilities include 6engineer 6management, design reviews, 6contract document development and negotiation, procurement specification preparation, and other technical support activities.

The 6Principal 6Project Engineer 6will 6join 6a 6team of 6utility-scale 6project execution 6engineers 6reporting to the 6[MARKET] 6market 6engineering 6manager 6and 6will 6serve as the 6lead 6project engineer 6for 6assigned projects. 6Additional 6responsibilities include 6mentoring 6and training 6other 6Engineers, 6directly supporting 6additional 6projects 6as a subject matter expert, driving innovation within the team, 6and 6driving institutional change 6within 6the wider organization. 6

The successful candidate will have a depth of experience in the 6development, analysis, and 6design 6of utility scale, transmission interconnected 6PV 6systems 6and 6battery storage systems. 6Experience with other renewable technologies including wind, green hydrogen, 6nuclear, 6hydroelectric, or data center design 6is a plus. 6Excellent communication, task management, 6and planning skills 6are 6needed, in addition to 6technical 6depth and 6breadth. 6 6

The position is 6at one of 6AES 6US Renewables & Power 6offices or 6remote and 6will 6include up to 25% travel to project locations and partner offices. 6

  • Support EPC engagement by preparing contract exhibits and supporting RFI 6s during contract negotiations. 6

  • Seek 6and evaluate proposals for engineering services. 6

  • Manage 6engineering consultants 6and 6Engineer Procure Construct (EPC) 6contractors 6through 6development 6of 6project construction drawings and support materials. 6

  • Perform technical project due diligence and project engineering design reviews 6to ensure compliance with company and industry standards. 6 6

  • Lead external and 6internal 6design review meetings. 6 6

  • Coordinate feedback from internal stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs) on design reviews. 6

  • Value engineer system designs 6to maximize reliability and reduce overall project cost. 6

  • Establish/review technical specifications of ownerfurnishedequipment in coordination with Procurement and Sourcing.

  • Manage Procore RFIs and submittals and ensure complete andtimelyresponses in coordination with other internal teams.

  • Technical support during construction including:

  • Respond to contractor requestsfor information (RFIs).

  • Support fieldquality assurance (QA)/quality control (QC).

  • Review test reports for compliance with contract requirements and technical standards.

  • Support the technical resolutionofpunch list items.

  • Support commissioning activities.

  • Support internal Owner 6s Engineering team through financing activities.

  • Support Operations/Asset Management teams to resolve technical issues at operating sites.

  • AssistDevelopment and Project Management 6teamswith 6development 6of 6key financial inputs.

  • Develop and implement technical solutions to market specific requirements in coordinationwithmarketmanager.

Growth and Leadership 6

  • Contribute to 6process improvement initiatives 6for the execution of safe, quality, 6and high-performance projects. 6

  • Provide 6timely 6feedback on EPC and external engineer performance, and document lessons learned to influence internal process enhancements. 6

  • Mentor and educate team on changing trends in technology, best practices, 6code enforcement, 6and safety. 6

  • Direct mentorship of 6other 6Engineers 6on 6job requirements and technical acumen. 6

  • Support the team as a technical subject matter expert. 6

  • Supportevaluation of 6emerging 6technologies 6and companies for 6the 6Approved Vendor List.

  • Attend site safety walks and 6identify 6jobsite hazards. 6 6

  • Obtain and 6maintain 6safety training 6certifications (NFPA 70E, 6OSHA 10-hour, 6and 6CPR/first aid). 6
