About the role:As a
Principal Engineer, Mechanical Systems and Equipment, you will provide technical leadership for the design, development, and analysis of complex mechanical systems supporting nuclear power generation projects. You will lead multidisciplinary engineering activities, resolve challenging technical issues, and guide the development of engineering deliverables from concept through implementation. Main activities include supporting operating reactors, advanced reactor technologies, licencing activities, and major engineering projects while mentoring engineers.
You will report to the
Manager, Mechanical Systems and Equipment and be assigned to our
Kitchener, Ontario, Canada location. This position will be offered as a
hybrid role.
Employees working in hybrid roles are expected to work onsite at our Kitchener, Ontario office 2 days per week. This position follows a hybrid work schedule with the opportunity to work from home on other days of the week.Key Responsibilities:- Lead the design, development, and analysis of complex mechanical systems, equipment, and components supporting CANDU, AP1000®, AP300™, and other advanced reactor technologies
- Coordinate engineering activities across design, testing, licencing, procurement, and multidisciplinary project teams to ensure you achieve technical and project goals.
- Author, review, and approve technical reports, engineering calculations, design documentation, and licencing submissions
- Resolve technical risks and challenges affecting scope, cost, quality, and schedule across multiple team members
- Provide technical leadership, oversight, and mentorship to engineers while supporting project execution and customer engagement activities
Qualifications:- 10+ years of experience in mechanical systems and equipment design, development, and analysis within the nuclear, power generation, or other highly regulated industries
- Demonstrated technical leadership experience leading engineering teams and complex engineering projects
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or equivalent
- Knowledge of fluid systems, mechanical equipment, and power plant systems, including primary and secondary side applications
- Experience with engineering design processes, technical reviews, licencing activities, and regulatory requirements
- P.Eng. certification in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering required
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally on occasion
- It is a bona fide job requirement to be eligible and authorized to travel to the U.S. on Westinghouse business, and such travel is subject to the rules and regulations of the U.S. Department of Energy, as well as compliance with all applicable U.S. export laws and regulations.
We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The
base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be
$106,000 to $132,500 per year.In addition to the base pay, this role may be eligible for incentive pay based on company and individual performance.
