The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from $120,000- $160,400
Job Summary

Has developed depth and breadth of expertise in distributed generation and broad knowledge of other disciplines. Maintains knowledge of leading-edge techniques or technology through participation in professional associations. Recognized as an expert in own area within the organization and industry.
Able to explain complex ideas, anticipates potential objections and persuades others to change. Able to communicate orally or in writing to regulatory and/or public entities. Leads teams, acts as a facilitator and experienced mentor.

Key Responsibilities
Solves unique and complex Distributed Generation (DG) Interconnection problems. Utilizes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. (e.g., Customer generators, photovoltaic systems, fuel cells).
Approve, maintain, & understand drawings (e.g., schematics, one-line diagrams). Assemble documents & other requirements for assignments of complex level of difficulty using depth & breadth of expertise in own discipline.
Lead teams and acts as a facilitator and experienced mentor. Develops innovative services, technologies, & make recommendations with respect to current and future stakeholders needs. May be required to make presentations to regulatory/public entities.
Design systems to resolve overly complex problems in non-standard situations & develop creative solutions that achieve division results. Independently apply design standards, industry codes, design criteria, guidelines & UI polices/procedures.
Forecast, plan, schedule, monitor, control budget/estimates, construction plans. Participate in the management of resource allocations to ensure adequate resources are available.
Principal Engineer:
Utilize knowledge to influence and guide department engineers.
Provide technical leadership in most complex projects that have a wide impact on the business
Mentor, develop and support team in technical skills
SME for team
Liaison/ direct contractors on company policy, standards, and best practices
Work independently with little supervision
Required Qualifications
Theoretical Engineering knowledge - Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Analytic, modeling & Calculation, understanding the business model; Global View of the Business (Values cross-functional collaboration, understands importance of growing knowledge and developing relationships and links across the organization)
Practical engineering experience/application - Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Construction, (e.g., field experience, standardization "Perform economic analyses of engineering alternatives, develop business cases and defend in front of stakeholders.")
Engineering documentation – Ability to adequately document and interpret engineering documentation
Ability to review and approve engineering work done by others - to ensure compliance with company standards, specifications, and contract requirements
Knowledge of Regulatory and Compliance Environment – Local, State and Federal Regulatory Standards and requirements
