About the role
The Electrical Engineer is a member of the Electrical Engineering Team at Archaea Energy and will provide engineering expertise in support of RNG assets across the company. They are responsible for improving the reliability, availability, maintainability, and performance of electrical systems and assets. This position supports safe and efficient plant operations, provides technical leadership for predictive and preventive maintenance, performs failure analysis, and develops reliability strategies.
The Engineer works closely with maintenance, operations, and engineering to minimize downtime, troubleshoot issues and institute solutions that contribute to reliability. This position will also be expected to act as an electrical resource and mentor for new project development as an electrical subject matter expert. This includes supporting design reviews, construction inquiries, and commissioning procedures.
Key accountabilities
- Develop corrective actions and long-term reliability improvements for power distribution systems, motors, generators, transformers, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and associated equipment.
- Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations for significant electrical failures and recurring equipment issues.
- Lead reliability improvement projects and initiatives that support asset lifecycle management and capital replacement planning.
- Analyze test data from electrical equipment and recommend corrective actions
- Support site energy efficiency and operational excellence programs.
- Coordinate and review power system studies including load flow, short circuit, relay coordination, arc flash, and harmonics.
- Build key relationships with electric utility operators
- Work closely with project managers and procurement to ensure new projects are built and designed to approved specifications
Essential education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
Essential experience
- 8 years of industrial electrical experience
- Experience with 480 volt distribution and medium voltage utility service.
- Knowledge of electrical safety, testing standards, and area classification standards (API, NFPA, NEC, and NETA)
- Experience analyzing and using electrical power system modeling software such as ETAP and SKM.
- Proven track record in practical application of engineering standards and practices for electrical equipment
- Experience with complex problem solving and working through complex technical requirements.
- Ability to guide, influence, and convince to be able to deliver job duties effectively.
- Willing to travel domestically in support of electrical equipment, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
Desirable criteria
- Professional Engineering (PE) license
How much do we pay? $118,000 - $169,000. *Note that the pay range listed for this position is a genuinely expected and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.
This position offers paid vacation depending on your years of relevant industry experience and will range from 120 – 240 hours of vacation per year for full times employees (60 - 240 hours of vacation per year for part time employees). You will also be eligible for 9 paid holidays per year and 2 personal choice holidays.
