Job Description:The
Principal AI Solutions Engineer supports FormFactor's AI, automation, and digital transformation initiatives by designing, developing, deploying, and supporting software solutions that leverage artificial intelligence, workflow automation, enterprise integrations, and advanced analytics.
This is a hands-on software engineering role requiring experience building production-ready applications, developing code, integrating systems, working with APIs, and delivering scalable business solutions. The successful candidate will leverage cloud platforms, enterprise technologies, and approved AI capabilities to improve business processes, productivity, and decision making across the organization.
The role partners closely with stakeholders across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, Human Resources, Sales, and IT to identify opportunities, translate business needs into technical solutions, and deliver value through the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, governance, and support.
Key Responsibilities:- Design, develop, deploy, and support AI-enabled applications, automation solutions, integrations, and enterprise software using approved technologies and platforms.
- Partner with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for AI, automation, and process improvement, translating business requirements into scalable, secure, and supportable solutions.
- Lead solution delivery through the full development lifecycle, including requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and support.
- Develop and maintain applications, APIs, integrations, workflows, and data-driven solutions using modern software engineering practices.
- Build AI-enabled solutions utilizing enterprise AI platforms, large language models, and AI-assisted development tools while validating AI-generated code for quality, security, and production readiness.
- Troubleshoot applications, resolve technical issues, and continuously improve solution reliability, performance, and user experience.
- Partner with Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, and Data teams to ensure compliance with enterprise standards, governance requirements, and responsible AI practices.
- Establish reusable development standards, templates, and best practices that enable scalable solution delivery across FormFactor.
- Coach citizen developers and business solution owners while helping successful solutions transition into governed production environments.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in software engineering, application development, automation, AI enablement, analytics, digital transformation, or related technology disciplines.
- Hands-on experience developing, deploying, and supporting production software applications and enterprise solutions.
- Strong programming experience with Java, Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, C#, or similar modern development languages.
- Experience building and consuming APIs, integrations, and cloud-based services.
- Knowledge of software engineering best practices including source control, testing, code reviews, CI/CD, monitoring, and production support.
- Understanding of secure application development, authentication, authorization, data protection, and application security principles.
- Experience evaluating and leveraging AI-assisted development tools and AI-generated outputs.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Experience supporting global organizations, manufacturing operations, or high-tech environments preferred.
Preferred Technical Experience: - AI & Automation: Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot Studio, GitHub Copilot, Power Platform, AI agents, large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, AI-assisted development, workflow automation.
- Software Development: Java, Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, C#, REST APIs, microservices, web application development, application architecture, object-oriented programming, software design patterns.
- Cloud & Data Platforms: Microsoft Azure, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Databricks, SQL Server, cloud-native services, data integration, data pipelines, analytics platforms, reporting solutions.
- DevOps & Engineering Practices: GitHub, Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code reviews, source control, application monitoring, deployment automation, release management.
- Enterprise Applications & Integration: Enterprise application integrations, ERP platforms, workflow orchestration, API development, business intelligence, data visualization, process automation, digital workplace solutions.

Pay Range:$132,400.00 - $173,775.00
Pay Range Explained:This role in Lexington, Kentucky pays between $132,400.00 and $173,775.00 per year, depending on your experience, skills, and background. Pay may vary in other locations. We offer a full benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, a 401(k) with company match, employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), and paid time off.
