This role is responsible for researching, developing, building, testing, and implementing modern actuarial methods, tools, templates, and governance practices that help teams progress while balancing ongoing production demands.

The position plays a critical role in modernizing actuarial practices, strengthening governance and documentation, and translating new ideas into implemented, scalable solutions.  The role operates as a service and delivery function, enabling functional teams while ownership of day-to-day production and outcomes remains with those teams.

3. Design, build, test, and help deploy new actuarial methodologies, models, tools, and templates, working collaboratively with impacted teams to ensure solutions are usable, scalable, and adopted.

4. Serve as an enablement and consulting resource to functional teams, strengthening capability and consistency while not owning day-to-day production responsibilities.

5. Lead Actuarial and Analytics governance efforts, including methodology standards, documentation, review processes, and alignment with internal, regulatory, and professional expectations.

6. Operate through influence rather than authority, leveraging dotted-line relationships with Actuarial and Analytics leaders while prioritizing work through alignment with the SVP, Actuarial & Analytics.

7. Maintain strong actuarial and technical credibility, remaining current on actuarial standards, analytical techniques, and economic developments, and selectively advancing innovations that provide clear, tangible value.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

1. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned in support of departmental and enterprise objectives.

KNOWLEDGE. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • ACAS/FCAS strongly preferred.
  • Deep Property & Casualty actuarial experience required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible actuarial experience across multiple functional areas (e.g., pricing, reserving, analytics, modeling, or governance).
  • Broad understanding of actuarial methods and insurance operations, with the ability to quickly gain working knowledge across functions.
  • Candidate must have B.A. or B.S. with major in mathematics, statistics, economics, or computer science.
  • Other majors may be acceptable depending on mathematics background.
  • Strong documentation skills, with the ability to explain complex actuarial concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives in parallel.
