Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, are now recruiting for Cost Analysis II to join our Estimating/Cost Analysis team. This role will be based at our Chatsworth, CA office.
The Role:
The Pricing Analyst develops strategic, data-driven pricing recommendations across OEM, aftermarket, and other customer segments to optimize revenue, margin, and win probability. This role independently evaluates complex pricing opportunities, interprets market intelligence, and balances commercial objectives with cost, competitive positioning, demand, and risk. Working with Sales, Estimating, Finance, Supply Chain, and Product Support, the analyst translates analysis into actionable pricing decisions and clear recommendations for leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
• Independently develop pricing recommendations for complex RFQs, multi-year agreements, large opportunities, and nonstandard quantity or delivery requirements, balancing margin, customer value, competitive position, and risk.
• Apply core pricing concepts, including price elasticity, segmentation, value-based pricing, contribution margin, price-volume trade-offs, price waterfalls, and discount governance to make commercially sound decisions.
• Gather and interpret market intelligence from customer behaviour, competitor signals, historical win/loss data, aftermarket availability, lead times, and alternative sourcing to inform price positioning.
• Build scenario and sensitivity analyses to evaluate pricing alternatives, volume commitments, quantity breaks, cost changes, and long-term profitability; articulate assumptions and recommended negotiation ranges.
• Assess cost estimates, supplier inputs, historical actuals, inventory position, and manufacturing or delivery risks; challenge questionable inputs and partner with Estimating and Supply Chain to resolve gaps.
• Partner with Sales and Customer Service on RFQ strategy, negotiations, and best-and-final offers; communicate defensible recommendations and secure approvals within the delegated authority framework.
• Monitor price realization, margins, conversion, win/loss patterns, customer and product performance, and revenue opportunities; identify and execute targeted price improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate pricing assumptions, quote records, and approvals in CRM/ERP and pricing tools; improve analytical models, price lists, automation, and repeatable pricing processes while meeting quote turnaround targets.
To be considered for the Pricing Analyst opening, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Analytics, or a related field; or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with pricing analytics, data visualization, ERP/CRM systems, or BI tools is preferred.
• Approximately 3–5 years of experience in pricing, revenue management, commercial finance, business analytics, or related quantitative decision-making roles.
• Demonstrated ability to independently evaluate complex pricing decisions and recommend outcomes using costs, margins, demand, competition, risk, and commercial objectives.
• Strong knowledge of pricing strategy and economics, including margin analysis, customer segmentation, discounting, price-volume trade-offs, and price realization.
• Experience collecting and synthesizing market intelligence and customer, competitor, or win/loss data into actionable recommendations.
• Strong financial modelling and analytical skills, including Excel-based scenarios, sensitivity analysis, and interpretation of large datasets.
• Clear written and verbal communication, sound business judgment, ownership of deadlines, and the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
• Aerospace, defence, industrial manufacturing, OEM, aftermarket, or MRO pricing experience, including understanding of bills of material, lead times, and supply chain cost drivers.
• Experience with pricing optimization tools, Power BI, SQL, CRM/ERP reporting, negotiation support, contract pricing, and process automation.
