Job Description:

The President will ensurethatNortheast Hospital Corporation, functions at the highest levels including delivering safe, high-quality coordinated care, efficient management of resources, smooth and efficient administrative services, and implementation of strategic and operational plans. The President willbe responsible forthe executive leadership, strategic growth, and fiscal health ofNortheast Hospital Corporation. They will recognize the inclusive and collaborative culture of the hospital that has made it a success in the community and among its patients and use that as a steppingstone to further integrate into the Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) system.

The President will work collaboratively with system-wide leadership and other BILH hospital and business unit presidents to advance goals to strengthen its mission of becoming a fully integrated system of patient care, education, research, and community service. This individual willidentifynew strategic partnerships that extend into the community, ensuring a robust health system distinguished by offering outstanding patient care programs and strong financial performance. The President will be a strong operational leader with sound fiscal management experience who will continueNortheast Hospital Corporationsculture of quality and patient satisfaction. The President will be a visible and enthusiastic leader within the organization and community and a vital partner in increasing philanthropic support for the Hospital.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Responsible for the effective selection, development and performance management of staff, to ensure the right talent is in place to achieve staff experience, clinical, patient experience, quality and financial goals.Develops and supports relationships that create an environment where individuals and team members learn and grow professionally.
  • Acts as an advisor for direct reports. Supports and serves as a role model in an open, compassionate, collaborative and accountable work environment. Responsible for creating a high performing and inclusive culture across areas where team members can effectively contribute to the vision and goals and work at their potential.
  • The COO develops and sustains relationships that are built on a high degree of trust, effective communication, collaboration, and mutual respect with all staff. physicians, Board Members, Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) colleagues and community members.
  • Plays an active leadership role in developing, implementing and monitoring goals that address ethnic and racial disparities, promote an inclusive patient care and workplace environment and ensure hospital staff represents the diverse backgrounds of the community that it serves at all levels.
  • Responsible for collaborating with clinical and administrative leaders to develop, implement and measure the organizations performance management culture and systems. Develops a business model for driving change in the operating model.
  • Serves as an advocate, mentor and role model for integrating best practices into the organizations performance excellence model. Designs and establishes tools that aid leaders in the adoption of performance improvement approaches for sustained performance improvement. Fosters and enables innovation and transforms ideas from creation to dissemination within and across the organization.
  • Works with department leaders and other hospital executives to develop, organize, and execute programs and communications to ensure that strategic priorities are clearly articulated and well understood throughout organization.
  • Accountable for assigned hospital operations with an emphasis on execution of performance improvement measures that increase productivity and bottom-line results. Develops and implements ongoing measures/evaluation methods related to all dimensions of performance inclusive of budget and productivity targets.
  • Ensures that systems, processes, procedures and KPIs are in place and utilized to continuously improve the services, make sound decisions and improve outcomes.
  • Directly and in collaboration with stakeholders, responsible for the preparation, data collection, submission, follow-up and communication of all hospital license, certification and accreditation processes. These include, but are not limited to, Department of Public Health, Department of Mental Health, Joint Commission.
  • Partners with the Chief Financial Officer and remains well versed in the financial performance of the hospital and in the development and performance of annual operational and capital budgets.
  • Participates in development, education and implementation of technology solutions that supports both clinical and administrative operations, including but not limited to EPIC, Workday, and productivity applications.
  • Partners closely CMO and physician group practice leadership on the intersections of patient care, operational, quality and financial performance between the two organizations.
  • Leads facilities planning efforts including maximizing space utilization, space planning, and oversee successful completion of short and long-term renovation projects.
  • Partners across the BILH system to find efficiencies, support clinical and operational integration, and achieve improved outcomes at a lower cost. May both direct or lead specific initiative and participate in system-wide work groups.
  • Seeks to improve and align system directed performance metrics and integration goals. Utilizing smart sheet tracking and other tools to outline the work plans of each initiative and track expected results. Variances from expected results will generate a correction plan developed in collaboration with the responsible leader.
  • Fosters and enables innovation and transforms ideas from creation to dissemination within and across the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Work requires a masters degree in health care administration, business administration or closely related field.
  • Ten (10) years of hospital operations experience, preferably within a larger health system model.
  • Facilities and construction management oversight a strong preference.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a matrixed organizational structure, proven leadership success in improving organizational performance and engaging teams in that process, as well as experience redesigning clinical and administrative performance models are all required.
  • Requires excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, ability to balance competing priorities, manage multiple projects at various stages and work cross-functionally.
  • Possess aptitude to thoroughly understand change management and strategic needs, innovation and potential opportunities for efficiencies and advancements.
  • Must be able to resolve problems encountered while working collaboratively and effectively in teams, emphasizing communication, collegiality, flexibility, trust, and patience.

Pay Range:

$500,000.00 USD - $585,000.00 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary rangethe organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. In addition to base compensation, this position may be eligible for additional compensation, which may include performance-based incentive bonuses.
