Job SummaryQTEC Aerospace is looking for highly capable and motivated individuals. The successful candidate will function as an integral member of a multi-contractor team providing program, engineering, and technical support to Missile Defense programs.
Job Duties/ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:
- Design, develop, and maintain high-throughput, object-oriented applications using common OOP languages and Python
- Working with minimal direction, provide deep technical expertise across multiple software disciplines and an understanding of systemwide implications and user needs
- Perform detailed analysis, design, coding, unit and integration testing, performance benchmarking, operational integration, and ongoing user support for complex software products
- Debug, configure, and maintain existing codebases and create automated tools to improve developer productivity and operational efficiency
Minimum Education and Experience- Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of related experience and may have a post-secondary degree or training in a related discipline; 6 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment daily
- Proven track record of building and supporting high-performance applications
- Experience with automated testing, software development best practices, and a collaborative mindset are essential
- Proficiency in Python and at least one additional object-oriented programming language (e.g., Java, C#, C++, etc.)
- Experience with software integration and formal testing
- Strong understanding of software development best practices and ability to apply them in a multi-team environment
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proven track record of root cause analysis and issue resolution
- Proven ability to mentor and motivate junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages continuous learning and drives the team toward shared success
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, and prepare and brief presentations to the customer as needed
- Self-motivated and customer-oriented
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Strong background supporting software engineering on DoD programs
- Experience with command and control (C2) system application development
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies
- Experience presenting complex concepts to non-software engineers, including senior program leadership, government representatives, and military leaders
- Willingness to take on unanticipated tasking
- Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and SysML diagrams
- Strong knowledge of Atlassian tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) to support Agile software development teams
