QTEC Aerospace is seeking a SOFTWARE ENGINEER to join our team of professionals in Huntsville, AL. The qualified applicant will become part of a team of professionals representing both industry and government. The successful candidate will be detail oriented, have a proven track record and a positive work ethic.

Job Summary

QTEC Aerospace is looking for highly capable and motivated individuals. The successful candidate will function as an integral member of a multi-contractor team providing program, engineering, and technical support to Missile Defense programs.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:
  • Design, develop, and maintain high-throughput, object-oriented applications using common OOP languages and Python
  • Working with minimal direction, provide deep technical expertise across multiple software disciplines and an understanding of systemwide implications and user needs
  • Perform detailed analysis, design, coding, unit and integration testing, performance benchmarking, operational integration, and ongoing user support for complex software products
  • Debug, configure, and maintain existing codebases and create automated tools to improve developer productivity and operational efficiency


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of related experience and may have a post-secondary degree or training in a related discipline; 6 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment daily
  • Proven track record of building and supporting high-performance applications
  • Experience with automated testing, software development best practices, and a collaborative mindset are essential
  • Proficiency in Python and at least one additional object-oriented programming language (e.g., Java, C#, C++, etc.)
  • Experience with software integration and formal testing
  • Strong understanding of software development best practices and ability to apply them in a multi-team environment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proven track record of root cause analysis and issue resolution
  • Proven ability to mentor and motivate junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages continuous learning and drives the team toward shared success
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, and prepare and brief presentations to the customer as needed
  • Self-motivated and customer-oriented


Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong background supporting software engineering on DoD programs
  • Experience with command and control (C2) system application development
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies
  • Experience presenting complex concepts to non-software engineers, including senior program leadership, government representatives, and military leaders
  • Willingness to take on unanticipated tasking
  • Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and SysML diagrams
  • Strong knowledge of Atlassian tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) to support Agile software development teams


Security Clearance

Candidates must currently have and be able to maintain a minimum DoD SECRET level security clearance.
