The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Professional Services (ProServe) team is seeking an experienced technology leader to serve as a Specialist ProServe Cloud Architect (PCA) within our Healthcare and Life Sciences (HCLS) practice. This is a role requiring deep expertise in R&D, spanning both Research (drug discovery, translational science) and Clinical Development (clinical trials, regulatory submissions) - and the ability to flex across both domains. The role focuses on data and context layer architectures that unlock scientific and clinical data for AI-native workflows, powered by AI, GenAI, and Agentic AI.
In this position, you'll serve as both a deep domain expert and a hands-on solution architect, counseling senior HCLS executives on designing AI-driven transformation programs that span the research-to-clinical development continuum - e.g., data foundations, ontology-orchestration architectures, and AI data-readiness strategies. You'll develop innovative go-to-market (GTM) strategies and perspectives on how data and context layers, knowledge graphs, and Agentic AI unlock value from early discovery through clinical development, creating repeatable solutions and accelerators that scale across Life Sciences customers.
You'll collaborate with colleagues across the ProServe HCLS team and external Partners, working backwards from customer outcomes to design fit-for-purpose solutions and programs across R&D.
This role requires expertise in AI, GenAI, and Agentic AI applied to Life Sciences R&D / Clinical Development, paired with experience in professional services and business development. The ideal candidate can flex seamlessly between research and clinical contexts - understanding both the science and the regulated data landscape. You think big, innovate, focus on customer objectives, execute at high standards, and maintain continuous curiosity.
Key job responsibilities
- Serving as the practice's dedicated specialist and deep domain expert in R&D - including Amazon BioDiscovery and AI-native research - designing and delivering solution architectures that solve complex customer problems across both domains
- Developing innovative GTM strategies, offerings, and accelerators for the data and context layer space spanning research and clinical - identifying whitespace, shaping new service offerings, and positioning the practice to capture emerging demand across the R&D-to-clinical continuum
- Counseling HCLS executive customers to explore the art of the possible with AI-driven transformation across Research and Clinical Development, pushing the frontiers of innovation to achieve breakthrough outcomes from discovery through late-stage trials
- Collaborating with internal teams to innovate AWS solutions, services, accelerators, and demos that address evolving research and clinical data-readiness customer needs
- Designing complex, scalable, and secure data foundation, ontology-orchestration, and Agentic AI architectures on AWS to achieve customer business outcomes (CBOs) across Research and Clinical Development
- Driving large, complex opportunities - spanning research, clinical, or both - from ideation, through vision building and scoping, solution architecture development, all the way to sales closure - owning technical qualification, de-risking delivery, and participating in the Sales-to-Delivery (S2D) motion
- Acting as a trusted advisor and thought leader to customers and internal colleagues on industry trends in R&D and clinical AI, data and context architectures, knowledge representation, and emerging technologies across the Life Sciences landscape
- Leading senior engagement on the practice's highest-potential opportunities - including AI-native drug discovery programs, clinical data platform modernization, data foundation builds, and enterprise ontology-orchestration initiatives - across a portfolio of strategic Life Sciences accounts
