Power BI Developer IIISnapshot:The Power BI Developer III serves as the senior technical lead for the Business Intelligence function and is responsible for advancing the Company's enterprise reporting and analytics capabilities through Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Fabric. This role owns the architecture, governance, and development standards for the Power BI environment, including data modeling, semantic layer design, security strategy, and reporting modernization initiatives. Acting with a high degree of autonomy, the Power BI Developer III provides technical leadership, drives the adoption of source-control and application lifecycle management practices, mentors junior developers, and partners with stakeholders across the business to deliver scalable, secure, and impactful analytics solutions.
A Day in the Life:- Own and govern data modeling and semantic layer architecture across Power BI applications and reports.
- Lead the organization's transition to Microsoft Fabric, including architecture planning, design decisions, and implementation strategies.
- Develop and maintain standards, governance controls, and best practices for Power BI and Microsoft Fabric solutions.
- Evaluate existing reporting solutions and identify modernization opportunities that improve scalability, usability, and business outcomes.
- Establish enterprise standards for report design, performance optimization, and data consistency.
- Develop advanced DAX and Power Query (M) solutions supporting complex reporting and analytics requirements.
- Manage row-level security, workspace governance, and access control strategies across the Power BI environment.
- Monitor report performance and implement improvements that enhance reliability and effectiveness.
- Support the maintenance, troubleshooting, and enhancement of enterprise reporting solutions.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering and application development teams to align reporting solutions with enterprise data architecture strategies.
- Partner with business stakeholders to translate reporting requirements into scalable analytics solutions.
- Communicate technical recommendations, architecture decisions, and reporting strategies to leadership and key stakeholders.
- Serve as a trusted advisor on reporting strategy, business intelligence architecture, and Microsoft Fabric capabilities.
- Mentor and provide guidance to Power BI Developer I and II team members.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex reporting, platform, and architecture challenges.
- Lead the implementation of Git-based source control and application lifecycle management practices.
- Maintain reporting, governance, and architecture documentation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen the Company's reporting and analytics capabilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills: - 5+ years of Power BI or business intelligence development experience.
- Advanced expertise in data modeling, including star schema design and semantic layer architecture.
- Advanced proficiency with DAX and Power Query (M).
- Hands-on Microsoft Fabric experience, including knowledge of modern Fabric architecture and data platform capabilities.
- Experience implementing Git-based source control and application lifecycle management practices for Power BI development.
- Applicable Microsoft Certified: Associate certification required.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts and architecture decisions to stakeholders and leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently and lead complex business intelligence initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Experience serving as a technical lead, mentor, or escalation resource within a business intelligence environment preferred.
- Experience supporting enterprise reporting modernization or analytics transformation initiatives preferred.
- Experience partnering closely with Data Engineering teams on enterprise data architecture decisions preferred.
- Experience supporting governance, security, and best-practice adoption across large reporting environments preferred.
