ABOUT THE ROLE

The PMO Manager is responsible for creating, defining and maintaining standards for project management within the organization. This incumbent ensures effective source documentation, provides guidance, recommendations and metrics on the practice of project management and leads Project Managers in the successful execution of projects from inception to execution ensuring quality, timeliness and ROI in partnership with the business analyst team, the software engineering team and the security team. This job requisition is for an existing vacancy.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Communication
    • Communicate and report on the project progress plan, requirements, budget, quality standards and expected business results.
    • Communicate clearly and regularly to assigned project teams, customers, vendors and stakeholders to ensure ongoing alignment.
    • Communicate project issues, risks, budget and timelines to Director, IT.
  • People Management
    • Ensure that trends of underperformance are formally addressed, with clear and documented performance improvement plans.
    • Formally recognize strong performers within the Project manager team.
    • Manage direct reports and support the Director and Team Managers in the management of their team towards Company standards of performance.
    • Ensure the overall people plan of the team reflects high standards, bench strength and succession planning, coupled with consistent mentoring and people development.
  • Process Improvement
    • Create, implement and evolve quality control policies, procedures and practices.
    • Create, implement and evolve project policies, procedures, standards and framework.
    • Create, implement and evolve business analysis, policies, procedures, standards and framework.
    • Ensure quality standards evolve, are followed and enforced within the organization.
    • Ensure continuous improvement of the communication stream and apply any new relevant standards.
  • Project/Task Management
    • Oversee IT projects/programs from inception through to execution.
    • Assess project risk and establish contingency plans.
    • Ensure proper execution of the risk strategy throughout project lifecycle.
    • Assign, delegate and monitor projects.
    • Manage project scope, budget and assigned resources.
    • Monitor project/program status and assess its impact on the customer.
    • Ensure timely processing of purchase orders and expenses.
    • Participate in the annual budget planning process, as requested.
    • Plan and preform resource allocation analysis for IT projects to determine high level resource requirements and timelines.
    • Vendor negotiation, sourcing and costing proposals.
    • Vendor relationship and invoice management.
  • Accountability
    • Monitor and ensure the projects are in compliance with IT and Company Operating Standards.
  • Push For Results
    • Lead the project team (IT and business teams) to meet or exceed project milestones with high quality project deliverables.
  • Customer Focus
    • Forecast internal customers' short and long term needs to solve their future business problems.
  • Teamwork
    • Work with assigned project team to ensure customer needs are met in a timely manner.
  • Promotes and works to maintain workplace wellness, health and safety, through active compliance with all workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Any other duties as required.

Education & Skills
• 5-8 years' experience as a project manager
• 5 - 10 years' experience managing and deploying initiatives by influence
• 10-15 years' experience working within the IT and business/industry
• 5-8 years' experience leading a team
• 5 - 10 years' experience developing and delivering presentations, to executive stakeholders
• Advanced knowledge and expertise in program/project management, portfolio management and systems development methodology
• 3-5 years experience leading ERP and POS projects
