Job Title: Plumbing Team Manager (MEP Design)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Plumbing Team Manager to lead and mentor a dedicated team of approximately 8 plumbing designers and engineers. In this role, you will provide overall supervision of team operations, oversee complex plumbing design deliverables, and drive departmental standardization and innovation initiatives.
This is a senior leadership role that combines technical design mastery with people management. You will perform advanced plumbing design assignments, conduct rigorous technical reviews, and ensure all projects are delivered accurately and within budget constraints. Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Supervision
• Team Management: Manage, mentor, and provide overall supervision for a team of approximately 8 plumbing designers and engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
• Workflow & Standardization: Lead the team through departmental initiatives and workflows that champion design standardization, efficiency, and technological innovation.
• Cross-Functional Communication: Communicate effectively with key internal and external personnel, managing time efficiently to meet tight project milestones.
Design Execution & Technical Review
• Engineering & Design: Perform complex plumbing design assignments for large-scale facilities and commercial projects.
• Quality Assurance: Provide thorough technical reviews of the plumbing team's work, calculations, and deliverables to ensure absolute accuracy and compliance.
• Software Proficiency: Utilize and oversee design processes within Revit, AutoCAD, and other industry-standard plumbing design software.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Education: Technical or Associate degree from an accredited technical institution or college in plumbing, mechanical engineering, or a related field (or equivalent years of professional experience in lieu of a degree).
• Experience Baseline: At least 15 years of progressive experience working within an MEP design environment.
• Technical Mastery: Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of commercial/industrial plumbing systems and MEP coordination.
• Software Skills: High proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and modern plumbing design software packages.
• Core Competencies: Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems, manage time efficiently, and produce correct designs within budgeted timeframes.
Preferred Attributes
• Active Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD) credential.
• Prior experience managing, developing, and scaling technical engineering teams in a consulting or design-build environment.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead multidisciplinary coordination.
