About the Opportunity

The SSI Digital Shipbuilding Platform is an integrated CAD/PLM enterprise system, developed exclusively for shipbuilding and fleet sustainment. The key SSI Platform software applications are ShipConstructor (3D CAD/CAM) and ShipbuildingPLM. SSI shipbuilding technology is a market leader in North America, with a strong European and Oceania client base.

The SSI PLM Configuration Specialist plays a key role as a member of the Enterprise Solutions team with a strong emphasis on the development and custom configuration of a ShipbuildingPLM client-specific solution that is tailored to support the wider solution architecture, under the guidance of the team leads. The ability to also engage with clients to capture complex requirements and map end-to-end process definitions that can be translated into the development of a complete integrated SSI solution would be a distinct advantage, but not required.

The position will require collaborating with a larger SSI Platform implementation and SME team, and includes engaging with clients through remote meetings with minimal travel. Flexibility in working hours will be required to accommodate client time zones. The chosen candidate must be located within North America, Australia, or Europe, and will have the flexibility to work fully remotely, or in a hybrid or in-office capacity at our SSI offices in Mobile, AL, USA, or Victoria, BC, Canada.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and configure client-specific PLM solutions as part of an agile, cross-functional team, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and overall product architecture.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to plan, design, and develop new PLM features, customizations, and enhancements in response to customer and business requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to interpret requirements and translate them into scalable and maintainable software solutions within the PLM platform.
  • Support the Enterprise Solutions team in activities such as client solution deployment, troubleshooting issues, client configuration/customization demos, and providing technical guidance.
  • Participate in code reviews and quality assurance (QA) testing to ensure solutions meet performance and functional requirements, and to support the delivery of high-quality solutions.
  • Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including development specifications, release notes, user guides, and test plans.

What We Look For:
  • Post-secondary education in software engineering, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with configuration/development of PLM/Engineering Change Processes required.
  • Proven experience with JavaScript and C# required.
  • Microsoft SQL Server experience required.
  • Exposure to CAD and Design Review applications is desired.
  • Proficient in both written and spoken English.
