Position Overview
The Plant Manager oversees manufacturing functions and provides support to the other functions as necessary. They are responsible for optimizing labor and material usage while minimizing overhead costs. The Plant Manager understands business financial performance and can focus their team to solve underlying issues. They formulate and recommend production policies and programs which guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation.
Qualifications
• BS in Engineering, Business or another related field.
• MBA is highly desirable.
• 10+ years' experience in production management/plant leadership role preferably in food manufacturing and/or related industry.
• Ability to perform general office lifting and physical requirements.
• Must be able to work in Hot & Cold environments for extended periods of time.
• Able to use MS Office applications especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• Excellent verbal and written communications at all levels of the organization.
• Working knowledge and exposure to GFSI.
• Proven experience as Plant Manager with all associated responsibilities or equivalent position.
• Exceptional negotiation and strategic influencing skills.
Key Responsibilities
• Ensure the safety and legality of food.
• Directs activities so that approved products are on schedule and within quality standards and cost objectives.
• Directs manufacturing to ensure production in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Ensures fixed assets are preserved.
• Initiates recommendations for purchase of new equipment and improvements to plant property.
• Coordinate with Human Resources to staff all positions and to establish and maintain a competitive compensation and benefits program for a successful recruiting and retention program.
• Develops, recommends and adheres to approved budgets.
• Ensure that the facilities maintain a sanitary environment conducive to Food Safety.
• Ensure product Quality, Food Safety and Regulatory Compliance to all Local, State and Federal Regulatory Agencies.
• Monitor all Food Safety, Quality and Sanitation programs and ensure policies are followed.
• Identify and perform manufacturing related projects as assigned and required.
• Identify and target improvement opportunities utilizing continuous improvement methodologies.
• Be motivated and drive the manufacturing performance for continuous improvement.
• Develop a strong sense of ownership and accountability for the team, to peers, and the company.
• Liaise with departmental heads to develop financial plans and ensure company-wide operational compliance.
• Identify and recommend facility and equipment maintenance needs.
• Define, implement and revise operational policies and guidelines for the organization.
• Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high and will include, but not be limited to, production machinery, computers, printers, telephones, and normal communication. Hearing protection will be required for all in plant activities.
• Must be willing to work under various temperatures ranging from typical 45 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
