Full Job Description

The Plant Manager provides leadership and direction to the plant across all areas including, production, processing, packaging, quality, warehousing, shipping, purchasing, safety, environmental and administration. In this role, you will direct the overall activities of the plant to ensure customer orders are received, scheduled, produced and shipped per the customers’ requirements while maintaining corporate established quality standards. 

How You Will Make Contributions That Matter

  • Analyze plant operations to ensure that the facility maintains a leadership position in the industry and that it takes advantage of new processes and technologies that become available  
  • Is responsible for expense control, including shrink, yields, labor and overhead costs utilizing Continuous Improvement techniques
  • Develops annual manufacturing expense and capital budgets in accordance with forecasted sales volumes and planned inventory levels  
  • Provides reliable and accurate information to finance to ensure that end of month closing schedules are met  
  • Ensures that appropriate standard operating procedures (SOP’s) are developed and maintained for all aspects of the business  
  • Implements plant safety programs and ensure compliance with good manufacturing practices (GMP’s)  
  • Is responsible for the Food Safety Policy/Program to assess potential food safety risks and to ensure food safety preventive measures are being implemented and routinely audited regarding the manufacturing, handling and storage of all food ingredients as well as finished goods  
  • Is responsible for all corporate, customer and government audits to ensure compliance  
  • Is responsible for environmental compliance  
  • Collaborates with other plant managers within Saputo to share best practices  
  • Acts as a liaison with Distribution, Supply Planning, Sales and Customer Service to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction in helping to address customer inquiries, problems and concerns  
  • Is responsible for maintaining proper staffing levels, employee performance evaluations, discipline, and employee commendation 
  • Is responsible for the overall succession planning and development of plant management staff 
  • Ensures compliance with all Saputo divisional and corporate policies and procedures   

You Are Best Suited For The Role If You Have….

  • a minimum of 5 years of experience in a plant operations leadership role (i.e. minimum plant manager role), preferably in extended shelf life (ESL)/aseptic fluid dairy food manufacturing operations plus a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Operations Manufacturing Management or a related field of study.
  • a thorough understanding of regulatory laws, standards and best practices relative to our business.  
  • a demonstrated understanding of costs related to dairy manufacturing and packaging.
  • experience developing and managing budgets.
  • experience in successfully influencing, leading, coaching, motivating and leading a team in a “hands-on” environment.
  • an ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs, working across multiple functions and disciplines to meet common objectives.
  • an ability to assess, evaluate, and solve problems.   
  • proficiency in SAP, and Microsoft Office suite.
  • excellent verbal/written communication skills. 
  • an ability to remain approachable and accessible to employees on all shifts, and work some weekends and holidays as needed and can travel as needed.

Salary range: $123,000 - $155,000

Salary offers vary commensurate with experience, skills, education, and training.
