About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Plant Manager to lead daily operations within our wood manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for overseeing plant performance across safety, quality, delivery, and cost, while fostering a culture aligned with the company's core values: making our customers successful, taking care of our team, pursuing excellence, and maximizing profitability. The Plant Manager will lead teams, optimize operations, and drive continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage day-to-day operations in a woodworking facility
  • Establish and implement policies and procedures to improve productivity, quality, safety, and cost efficiency
  • Analyze operational metrics and performance data to meet and exceed production goals
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing practices
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards through audits, inspections, and training
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, finance, materials, quality, and HR teams
  • Develop and manage departmental goals, budgets, and procedures
  • Monitor plant performance across key metrics including safety, cost, quality, delivery, and inventory
  • Lead cost control efforts and identify opportunities for manufacturing savings
  • Plan staffing levels and ensure optimal workforce utilization, including overtime management
  • Build and maintain a cross-trained workforce to support efficient operations
  • Promote a positive work environment and maintain strong employee relations
  • Stay current with advancements in manufacturing processes and recommend improvements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of manufacturing leadership experience in a plant environment
  • Experience in wood manufacturing strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to lead teams, drive results, and improve operational performance
  • Strong understanding of production systems, safety standards, and process improvement methodologies

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed in a woodworking manufacturing facility
  • Environment may include exposure to dust, noise, and machinery
  • Required use of PPE, including eye protection, and hearing protection
  • Non-climate-controlled facility (may be hot or cold depending on season)
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Schedule typically includes 8-10 hour shifts, 5 days per week, with occasional Saturdays based on business needs
