Responsibilities

  • Support construction phases, including reviewing material submissions and responding to requests for information.
  • Conduct condition assessments and provide rehabilitation or replacement recommendations for existing pipelines.
  • Act as a technical expert, mentoring junior staff and leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Engage in client service and business development activities, including attending conferences and client meetings.

Full Job Description
Kennedy Jenks is seeking an experienced and proactive Pipeline Engineer to support water and wastewater pipeline projects in a hybrid work environment across our Oregon and Washington offices. This role will be crucial in the evaluation, design, and construction of complex conveyance facilities for water, wastewater, and utility infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities • Lead pipeline design and analysis, performing advanced hydraulic and pipe design calculations for small to large-diameter water and wastewater pipelines. • Develop detailed designs, specifications, and drawings for complex pipeline projects, including alignment studies, hydraulic analyses, condition assessments, pipeline rehabilitation, new pipeline design, and in-service commissioning, while maintaining compliance with regional regulatory standards. • Familiarity with industry standards and publications and application of standards to design and installation of pipelines. • Provide construction phase engineering support, including review of materials submittals conforming to contract documents, responding to requests for information, and assisting owner to confirm compliance to contract documents. • Existing pipeline asset management including condition assessment and recommendations for rehabilitation or replacement of pipeline systems using various pipe materials and trenchless construction methods. • Serve as a technical expert, leading or supporting multidisciplinary project teams and mentoring junior staff on project tasks and best practices. • Contribute to client service and business development efforts by supporting client positioning, attending and presenting at technical conferences, delivering written reports, and attending client and stakeholder meetings. • Write technical reports, maintain accurate project documentation, and support quality control processes. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering, or similar engineering field (Master's preferred). • Professional Engineer (PE) license; licensure in California, Oregon and/or Washington preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. • 10+ years of experience in pipeline engineering, including design, analysis, and construction support. • Experience with pipeline design software and hydraulic modeling tools preferred • Strong knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations for water and wastewater infrastructure. • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Salary range for this position is anticipated to be $130,000 to $185,000, and may vary based upon education, experience, qualifications, licensure/certifications and geographic location.
