Description

Physician's Assistant is responsible to provide high quality family practice services in a free standing clinical practice setting using facilities, equipment, and support services provided by the Hospital.

PA is responsible to provide high quality Urology services within the practice setting.
• PA shall possess a valid Maine medical license and retain a current federal narcotics license number.
• PA shall be a member in good standing of the Hospital Medical Staff and shall meet all requirements of the Medical Staff with respect to the PAs practice including participation in Medical Staff and/or Departmental activities.
• PA shall maintain current knowledge and skills through independent study and continuing medical education activities.
• PA shall accept all forms of third-party reimbursement, including but not limited to Medicaid, Medicare, commercial health insurance, and applicable negotiated managed care reimbursement, and shall provide reasonable amounts of charity care.
• PA shall report to the person designated by the Chief Executive Officer as the PA's supervisor with respect to the business and financial aspects of the Physician's employment hereunder.
• PA shall exhibit professionalism in the facility in regards to behavior, attire, and reliability, and maintain a professional relationship with other health care providers, patients and their families.
• PA must maintain knowledge of and compliance with federal and state regulations including EMTALA.
• PA shall follow the basic principles of documentation, coding and reimbursement to ensure compliance with all State, Federal, and other regulations.
• PA shall participate in quality measures and monitoring as set forth by the Accountable Care Organization, Meaningful Use and other required entities.
• Demonstrates a clear understanding of, and commitment to, the hospital's mission, visions and values as well as the service excellence standards while completing all tasks and responsibilities.
• Actively Seeks out needed information by staying informed and involved by attending meetings, reading memos, policies, meeting minutes, newsletters, email and other appropriate information in a timely manner.
• Performs duties in a safe manner, in compliance with all safety policies and procedures
• Complies with the Code of Conduct and all appropriate policies and procedures
• Other duties, as assigned, that are relevant to the position and department

• Member in good standing of the Medical Staff.

Clinical: Frequently lifts up to 35 pounds independently. Frequently pushes/pulls 100 pounds using mechanical and other assistive devices. Walks, stands, kneels, bends most of the time. Exhibits fine motor skills and manual dexterity necessary to perform the essential job functions of the position. Visual acuity correctable to 20/20. Color vision is necessary. Normal hearing acuity.

Requirements
• Successful Completion of a Physician Assistant Program

Maintains current knowledge of the hospital-wide Quality Improvement Program.
• Collaborates with management to improve the effectiveness of the department through the Quality Improvement plans and processes.
• Participates in the departmental and hospital-wide Quality Improvement activities as directed by the manager.

COMPLIANCE
• Adheres to the federal, state, and local statutes and regulations.
• Adheres to the Compliance Program policies and procedures of Down East Community.
• Adheres to all Privacy and Security policies and procedures of Down East Community.
• Communicates any concern related to compliance issues to manager of department or Compliance Officer.
• Communicates any concern related to confidentiality issues to the Privacy Officer.
