Responsibilities

Full Job Description
The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner will work with the collaborating physician in an active inpatient practice to deliver health care services to our patients. The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner shall consult with the collaborating physician by telecommunication or in person as needed. In the absence of the designated collaborating physician, another physician shall be available for consultation.

Location: Birmingham, AL (providing local hospital support)

Schedule: Full-Time (Monday-Friday) + One Weekend/Month

Specific Duties

1. Will work with the collaborating physician in an active inpatient and outpatient practice to deliver health care services to our patients.

2. Diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic health problems.

3. Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic treatment.

4. Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.

5. Ordering, interpreting and performing laboratory and radiology tests.

6. Prescribing medications, including controlled substances, to the extent delegated.

7. Performing other therapeutic or corrective measures as indicated.

Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school
  • Current AL PA license or AL NP license
  • Two years' experience, preferably in an infectious disease field.
  • Proof of current vaccinations, including recommended boosters, commonly required for those working with immunocompromised patients, including measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis A & B, influenza, and COVID-19.
    • Requests for accommodations/exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis, consistent with applicable laws.
