Pay Range: $152,205.88 - $191,859.36 per year

Job Overview:

The Children's Hospital of New Jersey provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient pediatric services that include a pediatric intensive care unit, pediatric emergency department, Valerie Fund Children's Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, and a Level IV neonatal intensive care unit.

Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services, the Pediatrics Clinical Pharmacist Specialist will be responsible for reviewing and optimizing medication therapy for neonatal/pediatric patients in collaboration with other health care practitioners; actively promoting medication safety through the identification and analysis of adverse drug events and medication incidents; developing and implementing evidence-based and/or cost-savings initiatives; and providing educational expertise and support to other departments within the hospital when required to meet the goals of the organization,

Qualifications:

Required:
  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy
  • Active unrestricted New Jersey Pharmacist License
  • Postgraduate residency training or clinical experience in pediatric pharmacy practice as demonstrated by:
    • Completion of a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency in general practice and PGY2 Pediatric Pharmacy Residency, or
    • Completion of a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency with pediatric focus at dedicated children s hospital, or
    • A minimum of 3-years experience in pediatric clinical pharmacy practice

Preferred:
  • Board Certification in Pediatric Pharmacy Specialty

Essential Functions:
  • Provide pharmaceutical care to patients admitted to the Children s Hospital of New Jersey
  • Work collaboratively and communicate timely and effectively with members of the healthcare team
  • Serve as a pharmacotherapy resource for licensed independent practitioners, nurses, and other healthcare disciplines
  • Educate patients, caregivers, and various healthcare disciplines on appropriate medication use in the neonatal/pediatric patient populations
  • Participate as a representative on committees, system collaboratives, or service line meetings as a liaison for the pharmacy department or facility
  • Develop and participate in performance improvement and quality initiatives designed to improve clinical outcomes
  • Support the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program and other department/hospital initiatives as needed
  • Adhere to RWJBH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior
