NEEDED: Pharmacist
LOCATION: Coleman, Florida 33521
SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday (except federal holidays), 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
QUALIFICATIONS:
Licensure Pharmacist: Is required to have graduated from an accredited school of higher education as a pharmacist and must have a current state license.
Must submit evidence of examinations, education, internship and residency to include specific degree with practical experience and must possess and produce proof of certification/licensor to practice in any state.
Must be able to pass a drug screen and law enforcement background check
JOB DUTIES:
Work as part of an interdisciplinary team with other healthcare professionals.
Adjudication of the medication order, dispensing, counseling, educating (staff & patients), and monitoring the safe and appropriate use of medications while following BOP Clinical Practice Guidelines and the national formulary.
Interpret physician, dentist, and Mid-Level Practitioner prescription orders
Enter prescription orders into the pharmacy's prescription computer system and print prescription labels
Select the correct medication and filling the prescription
Inventorying medications and supplies, recording items that are low in stocking levels, and advising the Chief Pharmacist or Health Services Administrator and/or Assistant Health Services Administrator of medications that need ordering
Interacting with inmates regarding their medications and providing patient education about the medication
Inventory sharps and syringes using logbooks as these must be documented prior to removal from the pharmacy
File reports pertaining to the pharmacy, including patient records
Maintain a clean and sanitary work area
Always Maintain security of the pharmacy (no inmates are allowed in the pharmacy without a staff member present, keys must be secured at all times)
Maintain patient privacy by upholding HIPAA policies, including disposal of medication bottles and bags
Assist with maintaining sub-stock of medications and syringes in all Pyxis machines
Follow all National and Local BOP Policies and Procedures, as well as updates in BEMR
Notify administration of tardiness and/or absences, complete time sheets in a timely manner, and obtain a signature from an administrator prior to submission to agency for payment.
