Acting as a trusted advisor, they will lead key people strategies across labour and employee relations, talent management, workforce planning, leadership development, benefits, and compliance.

Leadership & Organizational Culture- Translate People & Culture strategy into operational plans and ensure effective execution across the organization.
- Implement initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, leadership capability, organizational effectiveness, and workplace culture.
- Provide expert guidance and coaching to leaders on employee relations, workforce management, and leadership challenges.
Department Leadership & Service Delivery- Lead, coach, support and develop the People & Culture team to ensure high-quality, consistent service delivery.
- Establish team priorities, manage workloads, and monitor performance against departmental objectives.
- Ensure efficient delivery of recruitment, employee relations, labour relations, benefits, and compliance services.
- Identify opportunities to improve service quality, team effectiveness, and operational efficiency.
- Manage departmental vendors, tools, and day-to-day resources as assigned.
Labour & Employee Relations- Serve as a subject matter expert on labour and employee relations matters.
- Provide guidance on collective agreement interpretation, grievance management, and dispute resolution.
- Support the preparation of bargaining materials, workforce data, and costing input and participate in collective bargaining.
- Coordinate and oversee workplace investigations, ensuring the matters are addressed fairly, consistently, timely. and in accordance with legislation and organizational policies.
- Support P&C team in coaching leaders on attendance management, progressive discipline, performance concerns, conflict resolution, and difficult conversations.
- Oversee workplace investigations, ensuring timely resolution, and coaching P&C professionals and leaders
- Promote positive labour relations and productive partnerships with union representatives.
- Escalate significant labour, legal, financial, and organizational risks to the Director of People $ culture, in accordance with agreed thresholds.
Talent & Workforce Planning- Manage recruitment delivery,, including large-scale hiring projects for new home openings, and monitor progress against workforce plans and hiring targets.
- Implement workforce planning initiatives and partner with leaders to address workforce needs.
- Menage recruitment and selection strategies for leadership and specialized positions.
- Enhance onboarding experiences that create strong connections, role clarity, and engagement from day one.
- Implement performance management processes and coordinate talent review and succession planning activities, maintain accurate development plans and progress records.
- Support the development of leadership capabilities through coaching, education, and targeted development initiatives.
- Drive employee engagement, recognition, retention, and career development programs.
Benefits & Total Rewards- Administer job evaluation processes and provide workforce data and market insights to support rewards decisions.
- Provide oversight of benefits, pension, leaves of absence, disability management, accommodations, and wellness programs.
- Partner with payroll and finance teams to ensure effective administration of compensation and total rewards programs.
- Compliance & Workplace Risk
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation, labour regulations, human rights requirements, and applicable sector obligations.
- Maintain and enhance People & Culture procedures and implement approved policies, s, and programs; recommend policy changes to the Director and Senior team with supporting evidence and operational implications.
- Support WSIB management, return-to-work programs, accommodations, and attendance initiatives.
- Partner with operational leaders to mitigate workplace risks and support safe, respectful work environments.
- Monitor legislative changes, coordinate compliance activities, and recommend operational changes as required.
People Analytics & Continuous Improvement- Maintain accurate workforce data and dashboards; track recruitment timeliness, retention, onboarding effectiveness, leadership, development progress, and HR case resolutions against agreed targets.
- Analyze trends, identify delivery gaps, and provide practical recommendations to the Director and operational leaders, with owners, timeliness and follow-up actions
- Leverage technology and best practices to improve HR service delivery and employee experience.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, consistency, and scalability across the People & Culture function.
QualificationsRequired:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field; CHRP required, CHRL preferred.
- 5-7 years of progressive HR experience, including HR Business Partner and people leadership responsibilities.
- Strong experience in unionized, multi-site environments, preferably within long-term care, healthcare, seniors living, or another regulated sector.
- Demonstrated expertise in employee and labour relations, workforce planning, talent management, organizational change, and employment legislation, including human rights, WSIB, accommodations, and workplace investigations.
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships, influence leaders, and navigate complex workplace situations with sound judgment and discretion.
- Strong communication, coaching, facilitation, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365, HRIS platforms, workforce analytics, and data-driven decision-making.
- Highly organized, adaptable, and effective at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
