Description
The Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases in the Department of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt Health and the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt is recruiting a full-time faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank to join the Peter F. Wright Immunocompromised Host (ICH) Program, a dedicated infectious diseases service line for immunocompromised children at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. Monroe Carell is a nationally ranked quaternary referral center with established hematopoietic cell transplant, cellular therapy, solid organ transplant, oncology, and primary immunodeficiency programs.
The Wright ICH program was established in 2014 as one of two named, distinct clinical services in the Division. Wright ICH pediatric ID physicians provide inpatient and outpatient ID related care for all immunocompromised children at Monroe Carell. The program collaborates in development and maintenance of protocols for pre-transplant evaluation, prophylaxis, and surveillance; maintains standing ID representation on transplant selection committees and HCT program meetings; and is the Division's partner in two established multidisciplinary teams - the Comprehensive Hematology, Immunology and Infectious Disease Program (CHIIP) which serves as an evaluation and management hub for patients with complex genetic immune-deficiency/dysregulation, and the Hyperinflammatory Inpatient Visits and Evaluation (HI FIVE) team for inpatient evaluation and management of hyperinflammation and immune dysregulation.
Together with the Director of the Wright ICH Program, major responsibilities will include provision of inpatient consultative and outpatient care for immunocompromised patients, updating and developing protocols for care of ICH patients, serving on transplant committee and program meetings, partnering with our established Pediatric ID physician-led Antimicrobial Stewardship and Infection Prevention teams, teaching and supervising fellows, residents, and medical students on the Wright ICH service, and contributing to the pediatric ID fellowship's transplant and immunocompromised-host curriculum.
The Division has a strong track record of career and research mentorship and will support protected effort for research development commensurate with experience, funding, and career goals. Extensive opportunities for collaborative research exist both within the Division and through the larger Vanderbilt Health community, including the Vanderbilt Institute for Infection, Immunology and Inflammation and the Vanderbilt Center for Transplant Science.
Academic rank, track, and compensation will be dependent upon qualifications. VUMC offers a generous benefits package to its faculty.
Qualifications
The candidate should be BC/BE in Pediatric Infectious Diseases and have clearly defined training and experience in the clinical care of immunocompromised pediatric patients. Specific additional training in Transplant/ICH ID beyond the three-year Ped ID fellowship is not a requirement. The ideal candidate would have a strong and specific interest or an emerging/established program in clinical or translational research in the immunocompromised host.
