Overview:

The Division of Pulmonary, Sleep, and Cystic Fibrosis at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio is seeking a mid- career faculty member to join our team as Associate Division Director for Research.

The Division of Pulmonary, Sleep, and Cystic Fibrosis and the Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s provide outstanding infrastructure for single- and multi-center pulmonary and sleep medicine-specific research. Nationwide Children’s Hospital is one of the Top 10 National Institutes of Health- funded free-standing pediatric research facilities. In 2025, our pulmonary medicine division’s extramural grant funding exceeded $2.1M supporting a wide portfolio of projects ranging from basic science lung immunology to clinical trials and multi-center studies. Investigators are supported by a multi-disciplinary Pulmonary Research Core.

The Division of Hospital Pulmonary, Sleep, and Cystic Fibrosis currently has 25 faculty members, including pediatric and dual pediatric/adult boarded pulmonologists with diverse academic and clinical interests. An ACGME-accredited three fellowship program welcomes two fellows per year. Supported by superb clinical infrastructure, the division had over 18,000 outpatient visits and 2,500 discharges in 2025.

Ideal candidates for this academic position will have a strong record of extramural funding and excellence in clinical and/or basic/translational research, mentorship, and teaching. Responsibilities will include the conduct of individual and collaborative original scientific research, faculty and fellow research mentorship, and provision of clinical care.

Essential Functions:

  • Conducts patient assessments and diagnoses medical conditions.

Education Requirement:

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine equivalent, required.
  • Graduate of an approved Fellowship program if applicable, required.


Licensure Requirement:

  • Medical License in the State of Ohio, required.
  • Unrestricted licensed physician, required.


Certifications:

Board Certification or eligibility in Pediatrics, required.
