Full Job Description
The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Critical Care, at the University of Virginia is seeking several candidates to join our Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care team as we prepare to expand our nationally recognized congenital heart program. The Children's Heart Center will move into a new, state-of-the-art, 29-bed, acuity-adaptable CICU in 2028. This expansion will separate our PICU and CICU services, creating exceptional opportunities for talented individuals to join and help shape the future of our cardiac intensive care program.
Candidates must be board certified/eligible in either Pediatric Cardiology or Pediatric Critical Care, with additional Cardiac Intensive Care training or equivalent experience. Preference will be given to those who are dually boarded.
UVA Health Children's Heart Center maintains a busy, high-quality surgical service caring for all levels of neonatal, pediatric, and adult congenital and acquired heart disease. We also have a very active heart failure and transplant program, providing ECMO and VAD support. The program offers 24/7 in-house attending coverage, supported by a well-staffed APP team, together with Cardiology and Pediatric Critical Care fellows.
We invite talented applicants at the Assistant and Associate Professor level to join our growing, dynamic team as we care for children from across the Commonwealth of Virginia. UVA Health Children's leads the Virginia Congenital Cardiac Collaborative (VC3), a statewide partnership that includes the Children's Hospital of Richmond and The Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters in Norfolk. This partnership coordinates congenital cardiac and heart failure care across Virginia, ensuring optimal, organized care as close to each child's home as possible.
Ample opportunity exists for academic achievement and professional growth, drawing on resources across the entire Medical Center, the Collaborative, and the UVA community. UVA Health Children's Hospital is located in Charlottesville, a setting with natural beauty in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Charlottesville is often ranked among the best places to live in the United States.
Candidates must have an MD or equivalent and be board certified/eligible in either Pediatric Cardiology or Pediatric Critical Care, with additional Cardiac Intensive Care training or equivalent experience. Preference will be given to those who are dually boarded.
