Job Title: Remote Payroll Manager (U.S. Candidates Only)

Location: Remote (U.S. Only)

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Payroll Processing: You'll oversee and process payroll for a diverse, remote workforce. From hourly employees to salaried team members, you'll ensure everyone gets paid accurately and on time no exceptions.
  • Compliance: Stay up to date with federal, state, and local tax regulations and ensure all payroll practices are fully compliant. You'll handle everything from tax withholdings to garnishments and deductions, keeping us in line with all relevant laws.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and distribute payroll reports for management, finance, and HR. You'll also analyze payroll data to identify trends, discrepancies, or opportunities for process improvement.
  • Payroll Systems Management: Manage our payroll software, ensuring its set up correctly and that employee data is accurately entered and maintained. You'll troubleshoot issues and liaise with the IT department to keep everything running smoothly.
  • Team Collaboration: You'll work closely with HR and Finance to ensure a seamless flow of information. You'll help answer any payroll-related questions from employees and collaborate to solve any payroll challenges.
  • Special Projects: As the business grows, you'll take on special projects to optimize and streamline payroll processes, improve reporting, and implement best practices for efficiency and accuracy.

  • U.S. Based Candidates Only You must be located within the United States.
  • Experience: You have at least 5 years of payroll experience, ideally with a focus on managing payroll for remote teams or multi-state employees.
  • Technical Skills: You're proficient with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Gusto) and have a solid understanding of Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
  • Attention to Detail: Payroll is all about precision. You're meticulous about getting numbers right and catching errors before they become problems.
  • Knowledgeable in Compliance: You have a deep understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and filing requirements at both the federal and state levels.
  • Problem-Solving: You're a natural when it comes to troubleshooting payroll discrepancies, whether its a tax issue, a pay discrepancy, or an error in the system.
  • Excellent Communication: You can explain payroll concepts clearly to non-financial folks, answer employee inquiries with ease, and collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues.
  • Self-Starter: You're comfortable working independently in a remote environment and have the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced setting.

Bonus Points For:
  • Experience working with multi-state payroll.
  • Familiarity with global payroll operations or international compensation structures.
  • Experience in a start-up or rapidly growing company where processes were built from the ground up.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation.
